30 for 30: Sashes (again)
Tuesday, February 15, 2011I loved wearing the sash as a tie/sash as a bow look from last week so I thought I'd try it again with another outfit. Didn't like it as much the second time around, but I can't pinpoint it. Perhaps it's too busy with the pattern? Or stick to one sash at a time? What do you think?
jacket: Abercrombie & Fitch
shirt: American Eagle
sashes: J.Crew, Abercrombie & Fitch
belt: Express
pants: Express
bag: agnes b - gift from cousin
flats: Mossimo

I like the way it looks, nice touch to the outfit. I'll have to steal this idea and try it soon :)
ReplyDeleteI think the mixing of scarves is quite clever and chic! The only thing I can think of is maybe mixing a different color family like pink? Perhaps the green is a little too close to the blue family. I dunno, I'm still digging your outfit especially that jean jacket! Too confused in how to buy a jean jacket lol I've been scarred by the 80s.
ReplyDeleteI think it worked well with this outfit, too, especially with the jacket. And I love the bag...I like that you include the bag with the outfit, because I am a BIG purse fan. How in the world do you handle changing every day, though?!?!
ReplyDeleteI like the sash as a bow look. I tied one on myself the other day and loved it!

I like it! You look so chic. I can't seem to wear sashes properly. You pulled it off so well.
ReplyDeleteoooh, I like it a lot! Don't change a thing.
ReplyDeleteI really like this look! Agree with you, though, that the last one was perfect. I think it has something to do with the black sash coordinating with the black blazer.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the sashes look too busy at all. The colors all mesh well together.
ReplyDeleteI like the other outfit better too...maybe I like the sash when its not with a jeans jacket? I am not sure.
ReplyDeleteI love bows so I am instantly a fan of this outfit. And I don' know a single person who wears denim jackets better than you do...I donated like three of them years ago because I just can't pull it off. You do it perfect though and I am so jealous!
ReplyDeleteAgain, you look great Cee!!! Are you tired of me saying that? LOL
ReplyDeleteHey- the mossimo flats- comfy? I don't think they carry size 5, only 5.5 but dying to try them.
Guess what???? Pearlbees posted the black chain scarf this morning. Purchased! Can't wait to start dressing like mini-Cee.
ReplyDelete@Lilly - Steal away! Can't wait to see how you wear it :)
ReplyDelete@Banhannas - I'm a wuss and try to stay within the same family of colors. Complement colors would definitely make it stand out more though. Will have to try that sometime.
@Tara - I'm always ecstatic to find another purse lover! My bf is slowly coming around, but stil doesn't get why I obsess over pieces of leather, haha. I don't carry around a lot of stuff, so I don't really make use of the various pockets. I just dump the contents from one bag into another in the mornings without really organizing what goes where :)
@Petite Mom - Nice to hear that the sash worked for you! One convert at a time... ;)
@PetiteLittleGirl - It might be the type and size of the fabric? I have trouble with cotton or ones that are too skinny or too thick sometimes, so those always get worn the same boring way.
@Simply Bubblelicious - Thanks!
@Cher - Me too. Next time, stick to what I already know :)
@Lisa - I'm such a wuss when it comes to color mixing. Is there such a thing as playing it too safe?
@Jarucha - The sheen of the sash does seem like it goes with more dressier items, like a blazer instead of a denim jacket. Will keep that in mind!
@Elle - I too went through a period of time where denim jackets were kept in the back of my closet, untouched. But then I realized they're like jeans, which goes with everything, so why not wear it with that in mind? But I refuse to wear it with jeans though. Too... country for me, haha.
@Really Petite - Haha, compliments are music to my ears every time! Mossimo flats are the comfiest pairs I own (even more so than my designer ones). No breaking in period, no blisters. In fact, I can't really find a negative thing to say about them. I think 5.5 might be too big for you if you normally take 5's though. Mine has gotten a bit loose with wear and I have normal-to-wide feet!
@AubreyOhDang! - What wonderful news! I hope you like it :) Imagine if we can figure out how to wear the pink LOFT top with the scarf with the gingham shirt (that you will own in the future). Twins from head to toe!
love the scarf! it really pulls the outfit together. it was the first thing my eyes were drawn to. xo
ReplyDeleteThe more sashes the better i say! i love the denim jacket and khaki combo. I've always wanted to do this but don't own khakis OR a denim jacket! WHAT A SAD WARDROBE!!! haha. you look casual yet chic! i love it.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
