The day before my school's football season opener, I unwittingly wore UCLA colors. Oh the horror! Good thing I snuck in a little orange and navy to go with the blue and yellow.

On game day, I was a little apprehensive about turning on the TV, fearing a beat down. The days leading up to the game, DH was telling me that some of his friends (all UVA alums, nonetheless) were so sure of a UCLA win that many took the bet -- and this is with a 3 touchdown spread! So with one eye half closed, I turned on the TV. They're #7 in the nation?? ...and we're only down by 11! Yes, this is the reaction of someone who's never known what it's like to cheer for a winning football program. We can pray for a win, but making it respectable is all we can ask for. We kept it fairly close throughout and lost by 8. DH's friends aren't so lucky and lost quite a bit of money. Love sports. That's why they play the game.

1) Tory Burch Eloise Riding Boot (sale $299.90; retail $495) - My TB Nadine riding boots from a few years ago was also a Nordstrom exclusive. This year's version, the Eloise, has slightly different detailing. Measurements for the Eloise look the same as my Nadine, so I'd recommend these boots to ladies looking for taller shafts with narrow-to-normal calf circumference.

2) Burberry Brit Cobridge Hooded Anorak with Detachable Liner (sale $659.90; retail: $995) - The Cobridge looks the same as my burgundy version from last season (outfits: here, here, here), but with the additional interior liner for extra warmth.

3) theory Gabe B 2 Blazer (sale $263.90; retail: $395) - A classic blazer at a discounted price. I bought my navy blue theory blazer many years ago and it's still the one that I reach for most often.

4) kensie Faux Leather Mixed Media Dress (sale $65.90; retail $99) - LBD with the added faux-panel twist looks a lot like my Zara faux-leather dress (outfits: here, here).

I'm channeling my inner prep with an almost-all-J.Crew outfit, with an accompanying scenic background that isn't so random. If I had actually planned ahead of time, I would have used a large tote, because realistically, who brings a clutch anywhere near bodies of water?

Even if I wanted to, my office is too cold in the summers for short sleeves, let alone strapless tops/dresses. So a light sweater is pretty much an essential item year-round for me. If I was outside much longer for photos, I'd have been burning up in this outfit. As is, a few quick snaps to choose from meant this awkwardly hunched over pose is the best photo of the batch.

The formula for today's outfit (sweater + plaid + tee + jeans + boots) is a repeat from the other day. The difference? Instead of using warm colors, I chose cool colors from the other half of the spectrum (well, with the exception of the necklace). Oh yeah, my facial expressions also look more normal today ;)

I pretty much stand in front of the "blazers + lightweight jackets" section of my closet every morning and just go down the line. Wore that jacket yesterday, so today will be a blazer day. The weather is perfect right now where I don't have to worry about how bulky they'll feel under outerwear, so I'm determined to wear them as much as I can. I'm thinking... at least two full rotations through before winter hits.

Today's outfit is a casual look comprised of my favs: stripes, blue & orange, and flats. Happy Monday!

Summer... fall... the weather's been pretty fickle lately. I'd be wearing jeans and booties in the morning but changing to shorts by the afternoon. Hey, if this is the extent of my problems, I sure can't be complaining.

Today's look is inspired by an outfit from the DSquared² Resort 2012 campaign. I love the camel/pink/orange combo on the model and wanted to try my hand using pieces from my closet. I do like how my outfit turned out but think there may be too much color on top? DSquared² got it right by separating out camel and pink into top and bottom pieces.

I figured the navy stripes on my top would be dark enough that I can get away with wearing black pumps. But whether due to the lighting or the blue bag (or a combination of both), the black pumps turned out to be such a glaring contrast in photos. Perhaps I should've worn another neutral color instead? Nude pumps? Snakeskin pumps?

Shorts, skirts, linen pants, and now skinny jeans. I've finally filled in all voids for white bottoms in my wardrobe. Thank you Kelly for introducing me to these jeans! Be prepared for even more white on white ensembles in the near future ;)

With summer humidity in full swing, I turned yet again to a favorite color scheme of mine, the all-white ensemble. The lighter colors really do help me stay cooler longer. For added interest, I accessorized with blue accessories.
