Today's outfit is a contradiction. The weather was freezing, hence the reason I'm wearing an oversized down parka (and gloves to boot). But what's with the bare ankles?! There's no logical explanation other than fashion over function.

I call this my grown-up prep outfit. Note all the details: the polo shirt with a crest emblem, the cardigan with varsity stripes, the color navy, the low (and comfortable) block heels, and just a little bit of British plaid. I'm really not sure I can look any preppier.

Today's pink stripes and camo inspiration is thanks to Lisa. I don't own many silver accessories, so ended up choosing boring brown shades to round out my outfit instead. It started with the taupe colored scarf on a chillier than normal day. The pants, shoes, and bag simply followed suit.

Most people would probably assume that I have Valentine's Day on my mind when I wore this outfit recently. It's funny because DH and I are probably the biggest Scrooges when it comes to celebrating holidays/special occasions. I can't remember the last time we exchanged gifts... not over Christmas, not on our anniversary, and not on Valentine's Day. I guess I just have a fondness for pink and red?

I've been so busy taking turns wearing my myriad of jackets/coats that my blazers are being neglected. Coupled with a few items that are currently in constant rotation -- orange clutch, poppy printed scarf (scroll through the last few posts and you can see their multiple guest appearances) -- and today's outfit is a resulting mix of preppy, color, and comfort.

There's something about this polo and shorts combo that makes me feel like I'm about to go to work at a country club. Perhaps it's the crest emblem? Maybe it's the cream color with navy? I wish I had an amusing backstory to tie the outfit to a particular experience, but since I don't, I'll throw out a random thought instead. One of these days, I will cross driving a golf cart off my bucket list. I hope it doesn't involve playing golf because I can't hit a ball off the tee to save my life.

I lived in t-shirts and polos all throughout college. Case in point: current license photo taken when I was 19-20 years old. After I started working full-time, my polo-wearing days slowly dwindled to non-existence (t-shirts however, lived on.)

A couple weekends ago, DH asked if I would go to the outlets with him so he can get his yearly clothes shopping over with. Three t-shirts, one polo, two pairs of sneakers, and several hours later, he was all set. I hadn't planned on purchasing anything (how many times have I said that before?) but left with a couple items.

DH has always reiterated that he liked the clothes I wore in college much more than the "weird outfits" I wear now, lol. So even though we don't see eye to eye on most of my wardrobe, that doesn't stop him from picking out items he'd like to see me wear and persuading me to try them on. Usually I'll take one look and just shake my head. I actually had this reaction when he held up the polo I'm wearing today, but gave in because I could slip it on without having to stand in line for a changing room. What do you know, we both ended up really liking it! So gotta give credit where credit's due. DH must've thought I acquiesced too easily because he tried pushing his luck with another polo for me to try on. It was a bright, solid, lime green (his favorite color) polo. No way am I cool enough to pull that off.
