Everywhere you look, today's outfit is all about the small touches. Pearl collar against an otherwise plain black coat. Cable cardigan for added texture. A neutral, but dramatic peplum top. Leopard pumps to top it all off. There's something interesting to see from head to toe.

There's definitely a correlation between age and skirt length -- the older one gets, the longer the hemline. If I hadn't come to this realization myself, I may have fought harder to hang onto my youth. As it is, life's too short, and changes are to be embraced. That is one lesson I've learned this year and will continue to carry with me onto the next. Hope everyone have a safe and happy new year! See you in 2019!

I wore this same sweater + skirt combo earlier this spring. Fast forward to now... you name the winter accessory and I'm wearing it. Scarf? Coat? Gloves? Tights? Check, check, check, and check! Did I feel a little bit ridiculous? A tiny bit -- it certainly was a chore getting ready. But I also felt glamorous -- because a fur stole and ladylike purse will do that to ya.

Long time no post! Been busy with life, work, and more life that I just needed a break from blogging. Hopefully with the holiday season upon us, work will slow down some and I can share more winter outfits. For now, I'm still going through a backlog of photos, so bear with me as it's still fall on the blog.

A lot of words come to mind when trying to describe today's outfit. Not quite athleisure? Wearing all the trends? At least everything is color coordinated in neutrals. Definitely looks comfortable. I will take all of the above because this outfit was born out of my determination to make the most of a regrettable purchase.

The item in question is this sweatshirt with wrist bow ties. Looking back, I was so excited to jump on the wrist bow ties bandwagon that I didn't pay enough attention to the shortcomings. While the wrist ties may be pretty to look at, they sure got in the way of everyday life. The ends would get wet after washing my hands normally. Bows come undone too easily. The sweatshirt was also a bit too short on me.

To fix the first two issues, I ended up wearing the sweatshirt with 3/4 sleeves. No more consciously restricting hand movements throughout the day! For the last issue, I simply wore layers. In hindsight, can't believe I didn't think of this earlier. A longer layer underneath worked well proportionally with the nearly cropped length.

Long time no post! Life has been hectic the last few weeks due to unexpected home repairs. Unfortunately the issues have not all been resolved yet, so blogging will continue to be sporadic for awhile. Then there is also all the rain we've been getting lately. We're finally getting better weather now, so hopefully that'll mean I start taking outfit photos again. In the meantime, here is a neutral work outfit from today as we transition from summer to fall.

I wore a variation of today's outfit to a baby (girl) shower over the weekend. I swapped out the pencil skirt for a mini and the work tote for a bucket bag, while the rest of the pieces remained exactly the same. I love the versatility of work to weekend transformations (and vice versa) through subtle tweaks.

I ordered a handful of items during the Zara sale a few weeks back (still ongoing, but selection is probably better in stores now from returns). The only item that I loved enough to keep? This pair of black ballerina flats with beaded straps (coincidentally, a friend also bought and kept! Great minds especially since we didn't coordinate beforehand).

I was afraid the flats may be too big, but Kefee heel inserts to the rescue once again. Since my initial post about them, I do think the heel inserts work much better than the toe inserts. With more weight pressing down on the toe inserts, they seem to lose their cushion fairly fast.

Today's outfit got varying degrees of comments, ranging from "Ooh, I love your shoes!" (via girls) to "Is that... fur?" (from guys). The latter of which I laughingly responded with, "Not at all. Want to touch?" A couple took me up on my offer, lol. I think this skirt is the equivalent of a coffee table conversation piece at the workplace.

These leopard pumps are one of my most worn shoes, so it was only a matter of time before one of the heel tips wore off. I used to go to Buchanan, but it's just not in a convenient location for me anymore (never had any issues with their work). I found AH One recently and couldn't be happier with the end result. Great customer service, a quick turnaround time of 30 minutes (probably would have been less if I waited), and the owner kindly waterproofed the shoes as well. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend.

I walked around all day in the office with my jacket on *insert upside-down face emoji* -- all because I thought for sure it's short-sleeve weather. This sweater tee is made of substantial fabric... but the office just needed to be about 5 degrees warmer. Watch me wear this ensemble again next week and be complaining about sweating because we're supposedly heading straight to summer.

This skirt is one of those items that you just don't want to take off. I wore it on back-to-back days last week! That phrase "so comfortable you can sleep in it" is quite fitting... and I would have if not for my aversion of combining my "outside clothes" with my "home clothes".
