Stripes/Lace

by - Friday, August 09, 2013
Casual meets dressy is the theme for today's outfit. I'm not one to buy duplicates often, but I couldn't resist this Saint James x J.Crew striped tee from recent sales. I've gotten so many wears out of the green/navy version from last season that I figured a classic navy on white pairing would be even more versatile. Luckily the sizing of this year's remained the same, but unfortunately the material is not as soft.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

Summer Bright

by - Monday, July 29, 2013
In the past week of blogging, I'm 4-for-5 when it came to wearing stripes. It was completely unplanned, which goes to show how many striped items I actually own. Move over gingham, there's a new obsession in town.

Have a good Monday, everyone!

I keep about ten pairs of shoes within easy reach for everyday wear. The rest are stored in shoeboxes on the top shelf in my closet. One of which are these hot pink heels. Since they require me to stand on a chair to reach the top shelf, my lazy self doesn't wear them as often as I'd like. I had taken them down earlier to wear to an event, so I figured I'd wear them as much as possible before they're never to be seen again for months.

Have a good Wednesday, everyone!

Linen & Leather

Day 21, Tuesday: A list of links to your favorite posts in your archives

This was hard to narrow down, but I'd have to say:

- Monochromatic in gray is my favorite outfit post. It's the most aesthetically pleasing outfit but also the most high maintenance with the conversion of a lace dress into a top.

- PFC #11: Vacation Vogue is my favorite outfit challenge post. Now if only I take my own advice when packing for vacations.

- Speaking of vacations, my time spent in SF/Napa is my favorite travel post. Sometimes I'd re-read to drool over the amazing cuisine... but only when I'm not hungry. I hope to visit again one day!

- Shopping & Finances is my favorite serious post. The title says it all.

- My favorite photography post consists of candid outtakes. There hasn't been any more goof reels since because the self-timer on my current camera is much quicker in-between shots. That might be the only feature I miss about using a point-and-shoot.

Living on the Wedge

by - Monday, May 06, 2013
Since upgrading from a point-and-shoot, one of my favorite aspects of photography is the ability to take photos directly into the sun. Shooting at the right angle during certain hours of the day, I feel like I hit the jackpot every time when I manage to capture elusive sun flares or the soft, romantic glow. Then there are times like today's photos where there's just too much sunlight going into the camera and so resulting photos look washed out.

Another Monday, another start to a new work week. Have a good one!

Delicate Meets Denim

by - Friday, April 12, 2013
Sale alert at Gap: Use code GAPSHOP for 30% off today 4/12 or 25% off tomorrow 4/13.

Two old, but much loved items from my closet are:
- Broken-in straight khakis (retail $54.95): I'm wearing size 00 - outfits: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight
- Pure longline tunic (retail $32.00): I'm wearing size XS - outfits: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight

I placed an order for a few items to try: printed crossover maxi dress in yellow print, luxlight crew cardigan in extremely green, and moss stitch striped cardigan in true indigo.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Continuing my love affair with all things romantic, I wanted to add an eyelet/voile skirt to my wardrobe. I was looking for one that hits around the knees, with a handkerchief hem, and isn't too poofy. I came across many that were on the shorter side, too poofy, and/or had an even hem.

When I saw this Old Navy eyelet tube dress, my creative side went into overdrive, imagining all the potential it held. The strapless top worked in my favor because I figured I could tuck it down and inward. Converting the dress into a skirt meant the bottom portion of the bust area would sit at my waist, therefore giving me the longer length I desired. The skirt works for the time being, but I'm considering slimming the sides and/or shortening the length just a tad. For today's look, I balanced out the longer skirt with a cropped top and jacket.

Every time the weather warms, I realize how complacent I've been throughout the colder days because I can randomly choose a public spot for photos and there would hardly be anyone milling about. I usually have to ease my way back into thick-skinned mode come spring, but this time around I dove in head first. Well, I had a little push. I figured I only had a few days' window before the rain washed all the pretty flowers away, so there I was, taking photos with my tripod next to an intersection with fairly heavy traffic. Well worth the few minutes of awkwardness, I'd say.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

Plaid & Fur

by - Wednesday, March 27, 2013
Today's casual outfit is heavily inspired by this Pinterest photo. The fur vest, plaid shirt, and ripped jeans make me feel like I'm all set for a day in the outdoors. Alas, I sat behind a desk instead.

Hope you had a good day!
