Set in Stone
Monday, March 04, 2013Some kind of gem(stone) on a chain necklace has long been on my wishlist (see right sidebar). Forever 21, my go-to source for costume jewelry, had some I considered, but none of which I ultimately loved. So I turned to eBay to browse for hidden gems (ha ha, get it?) I didn't find any pre-made necklaces to my liking, but did come across pretty gemstones that I could "make" into a necklace. I bought my stone for $5 and a chain for $1.40, so the total is about how much I would've paid at Forever 21. Another item crossed off my wishlist!
sunglasses: Walmart aviator (similar)
lips: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in wink for pink (sold here)
vest: Zara Girl fur waistcoat (similar)
top: Gap Pure longline tunic (sold here)
rings: Forever 21 braid & chain stack ring set (similar);
Forever 21 leaf & feather ring (sold here)
jeans: Hollister boot destroyed (sold here)

Such a pretty stone, and now it's unique because you made it yourself

ReplyDeletenice job on the necklace! my sister does geology, perhaps she could get me a small, pretty stone. hmmmm
ReplyDeleteShe probably has access to all sorts of gorgeous stones. Lucky you!
Deletei am absolutely loving all of the muted colors together! it looks really good!!! great jewelry diy! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove the stone you chose! How is your Balenciaga holding up in terms of colour transfer and fading?

My Bal's doing great in the color department -- haven't noticed any color fading, but it may be because the color is light to begin with. There are definitely color transfers on the corners of the bag, mainly from rubbing against denim. I've never tried removing it because I'm lazy and it's not noticeable.
DeleteAwesome DIY spirit. I have been seeing more and more of these necklaces around lately. I may have to get one of my own.

ReplyDeleteAhh! I have one just like that, I used to wear it all the time when I first started blogging but haven't worn it in a year now. You've reminded me that I should wear it more often :)
ReplyDeleteYes please! I think I found your blog months after you started blogging, so I don't remember your necklace.
