Monochromatic in Gray
Monday, November 28, 2011Today's outfit is the most high maintenance one I've ever worn. The lace top I have on is actually a tunic/dress, so a fold here and a tuck there were needed to hide excess fabric underneath the sweater. I'm loving the end result but all the effort involved with each restroom trip may not be worth it ;)
Happy (Cyber) Monday!

I adore that F21 dress. I think it was available before I was aware that the store existed, because I would have bought it in a second if I knew about it. I saw the new one that you linked to but I prefer the one you have better. And I cannot justify another white lace dress since I bought one from there back in August. This is a great outfit.
ReplyDeleteOh cool! Great idea with the tunic. I love the lace peeping out. And the tones of grey are a great color palette!

I can totally see how its troublesome to fix up the top so it looks perfect, I would be too lazy to do it haha. I tried the dress as skirt look and it didn't even come close to how you put it together.
ReplyDeleteWell it came out adorable...and it looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteAw, I love the look though, and the colors are so soft - maybe wear a really skinny belt under the sweater to hold the folds up?
ReplyDeleteI really love this look! I'm a big bowl neck lover and I can't believe that's a dress under their! How creative!

I was in all grey today too! Must be that time of year, huh? Maybe try some fashion tape on that tunic next time. Just tape up the fold so you don't have to readjust. =)
ReplyDeleteI love the look. You're very creative using the tunic as a shirt.
ReplyDeleteI love the gray on gray! It's so sophisticated. And the lace peeking out is gorgeous. I have to readjust in the bathroom sometimes too.
ReplyDeleteAll your hard work paid off - I love the look!
ReplyDeleteHa! I can't even imagine how much of a pain each trip to the bathroom was! I do love the look, but I think I drink too much water during the day to pull off a similar trick :)
ReplyDeleteThis is sooo pretty. I can't imagine wearing all grey, but you pull it off SO well.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, great idea! The outcome is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletethis is so creative!! i love how you layered the lace dress underneath the sweater -- definitely worth the extra effort after restroom breaks. i'm gonna have to try this sometime!
ReplyDeletecute & little
What a creative outfit! You look gorgeous and this outfit is great :)
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed by how neatly tucked the dress is. Love this outfit.
ReplyDeletethose pants make your legs look sooo long! :)
ReplyDeleteImpressive tucking and folding! The sweater is pretty slim-fitting and you cannot tell at all that the lace is a dress rather than a top - I bow to you :)
ReplyDeleteThe lace hem / sleeve detail is perfection with this ensemble.
I love the all gray color scheme, and the lace peeking out is lovely! Although, I can imagine it was very hard to use the restroom :D It paid off though, you look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteQueen of layering :) I though that was a top under the sweater, never would've thought it was a dress. Love this look, can't go wrong with gray and little lace :)
ReplyDelete@littlenashua - You know Kerry, I think it's a good thing you didn't end up buying the lace dress. It's pretty baggy on me so you'd probably end up having to slim it... so might as well make one of your own from scratch with some pretty Chantilly lace? :) I bet the end result would look amazing.

@Jarucha - Pshhh I bet you're just saying that your dress as skirt didn't look good. No pics = no proof :D
@Lisa - respect the shoes - The problem was mainly to keep the lace edges that peeked out even over the pants. Once I got a hang of that, the rest of the fabric was tucked in and actually stayed put pretty well. But I will have to remember the belt idea :)
@Alterations Needed - Nahh, it's great minds think alike ;) Interesting idea with the fashion tape... I think they might be too strong and could rip apart the delicate lace, but perhaps something along the stickiness of Post-It notes could work... hmm.... Thanks for the suggestion!
@Tara - Bathroom break every hour or earlier? That's me, too!
@The Little Dust Princess - I say give it a try cuz you never know :)
@kileen - Hi dress twin! Definitely give it a shot so I can steal ideas :D
@Rites of Beauty - Haha, I had to make sure it looked good enough for photos. The rest of the day? Not so much, lol.
@kaybee89 - It's gotta be the extra height from the heels ;)
I really love this outfit - the lace detail is perfect, and you look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting and pretty way to wear a lace tunic. I think to solve your high-maintenance problem, you need a super skinny belt discretely belted over the tunic under the sweater, so you don't have to "fix" it every time you go to the bathroom. :) LOVE this look.
ReplyDeleteI love the lace peeking out! Lovely outfit.
ReplyDeleteHow amazing is this outfit? I love the lace peeking thru on the bottom and sleeves. How on earth did you tuck and fold the tunic to make it look so perfect?
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS AMAZING! I love what you did, although it looks difficult to achieve! It's perfect, you are easily the most crafty and resourceful person I know. :)
ReplyDelete@Petite-size Style, @JenlovesBal, @Elle - Thanks :)
ReplyDelete@Vicky - Great point. A few others suggested tape. I'll have to try both methods out sometime!
@Really Petite - Haha, a bit of luck and loads of patience? ;) All the excess fabric that isn't peeking out ended up being tucked into my pants.
I love the lace peeking out!! The colors are gorgeous too!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this cee, the lace peaking out against the gray is so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
