H&M Bag + BRB
Sunday, May 20, 2012I went to H&M with my 35% off coupon (thanks SPG!) hoping to find a pair of ballet flats. I left home in the outfit below [left] and came back with a new bag instead [right].
blazer: theory (similar) / shirt: J.Crew (sold here) / necklace: H&M (similar) / tank: Old Navy (sold here) / belt: Old Navy (similar) / shorts: Old Navy (sold here) / ring: Forever 21 (similar) / shoes: Via Spiga (sold here) / bag: [left] Longchamp (sold here)
A dome-shaped bag with a long strap has long been on my wishlist ever since seeing photos of Olivia Palermo with her Chloe Gemma. I would've gladly forked over the money for the Chloe but like most things, I was late to the game.
I was happy to see this H&M bag in stores because it fit all the requirements I was looking for: simple design, dome shape, long strap. At the same time, I was hesitant because I'm unsure of the quality holding up over time. The bag retails for $24.95 + 35% off = $16.22, which I figured is a good enough deal for me to try out. The imitation leather is pebbled and on the thin side. The bag is very lightweight. There were some loose threading, so it's best to carefully look over in stores. The color is a pretty taupe-pink, where its true colors are shown in my modeling photos (not the one directly below).
Though I can wear the bag over the shoulders, it's most comfortable when hand-held or worn crossbody. When loaded with all my stuff, the bottom does sag. I wish there were extra padding on the bottom to avoid sagging, but for the price, that's probably asking for too much.
I'll get to test this bag's durability because I'm bringing it with me to San Francisco/Napa Valley for the next few days. Crossing my fingers that all the hardware and straps will be able to handle all my stuff through multiple layovers and sight-seeing. It'll be my third time in CA and I absolutely can not wait to gorge myself with food, sights, and sounds. Be back soon!

Really loving the color of your shorts..and your new bag is cute :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip to CA, Cee! I love, love, love this outfit of yours showcasing an H&M bag which looks like an expensive designer bag thanks to your flawless styling.
ReplyDeleteThe more I look at the bag, it looks like the lovechild of the Givenchy Nightingale and YSL Muse, no?
DeleteYou layers SO well, Cee! Such a great look. Love those shoes, do they run true to size?
ReplyDeleteI'm usually a size 6 with a foot that's wider in the front. I went up half a size to 6.5 and these wedges fit perfectly. If you have narrow feet, taking your normal size would probably be best. Hope that helps!
DeleteGreat review on the bag! The bag looked cute but I thought the quality was too thin so I decided to pass. It's a pretty color definitely. I LOVE your wedges! Great outfit. Have fun in the SF bay area! It's beautiful weather right now here =)

I felt the same way about the bag but caved because I had been wanting something similar for so long, lol. I think if the bag gets me through this trip, it'll be worth the money :)
Deletethis is really beyond cool and chic. i think this is one of my favourite outfits on you! xox P

That is a super cute and roomy bag, cant beat the price either. Looks like it is great as an every day bag that you can just throw on your shoulder and go. Wish there is H&M around here.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cee for your kind words and encouragement :)
An H&M online store should be opening soon -- later this year or early this year. Of course that could be pushed back for all we know, haha.
DeleteOoh, cute bag and great deal! Hope you have a wonderful trip and can't wait to hear about it (and find out how the bag did).
ReplyDeleteLoving today's layers and colors - esp. the yellow stripes with chambray and purple! It's getting too hot (yes, I'm one of those ppl who complain about the low 80s) over here to wear anything but sleeveless / airy combos.
Haha, I'm the exact opposite. Complaining about the cold in SF and loving the humid weather back east. I'm just weird like that :)
DeleteI love how big it is but I agree that you prob cant put too much stuff in there or else it would sag. I went to HM couple times already and got few things, had to drag hubby along so he can use the coupon to get me stuff too :D
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is chic and cool. And you've got great legs.

Great review! The bag also reminds me of the Givenchy Nightingale.
ReplyDeleteI love your shoes!
Yes! A lovechild of the Nightingale and YSL Muse I think?
DeleteHave a fun trip - love the color of that bag!
ReplyDeleteThat bag is cute. I think I saw it... now I'm thinking why I didn't see it more carefully. I def need more bags so I might check it if I have another chance.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great time in SF. I love there!
I love that bag (and the belt) Such a cute look!

ReplyDeleteFor $16.22, its an awesome deal! Stop complaining!
ReplyDeleteI was originally trying to go to SF last weekend or this weekend, but plans didn't work out. I'm sure you'll have an awesome time there!
Hahaha alright no more complaints from me ;)
DeleteI hope you get a chance to go soon. Perhaps it's a good thing to avoid all the Memorial Day tourists. The weather's actually pretty decent.
Nice post....thanks for sharing.Shree Bankey Bihariji Packaging
