Haul: Gap tops
Tuesday, November 16, 2010At their Give & Get event over the weekend, I bought a Gap crossover dolman blouse in caviar, size XS (currently sold here) because I really liked how it looked on the model. On me though... eek! I'm pretty flat-chested, so I think where the elastic hits doesn't help at all. Any ideas on how I could make it work? Otherwise, I shall be returning this back to the store.
pants: XOXO
shoes: BCBGirls (currently sold here)
I also bought this Gap striped cowlneck T in black stripe, size XS (currently sold here). I actually eyeballed the fit of this top in stores (didn't get a chance to try it on) and decided to buy it. The fit turned out better than I imagined, not too tight and not too loose. I really like the cowl-neck draping and how it has a longer length. It's made of 100% pima cotton, so it's super soft to the touch. It is a bit see-through, but it's nothing a tank underneath won't solve. I think this one is a keeper. Gap will be selling their cowlneck tops for $10 at their pre-Black Friday event, so hold out for that if you're interested!
jeans: LOFT (currently sold here)
flats: Mossimo

I really don't know how to make the first top work on petites. It seems a little big for ya. As for the t-shirt, I love it! Thanks for the heads up on Black Friday sale. I sure will get one for myself. Love the $10.00 price tag :)
ReplyDeleteThat cowl neck top looks perfect on you! I like that it's fitted and you can't go wrong with super-soft cotton. Of course I also like the stripes :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the dolman blouse, the only idea I have for it is to layer it with a vest, but that might cover too much of it. From the front, the top portion looks a little overwhelming for your frame?
Love that second top on you! As for the dolman top...I try to stay away from elastic bands on tops because they make my proportions look weird. It actually looks pretty good on you...just quite loose.
ReplyDeleteI think the dolman to can work on you.
ReplyDeleteThe striped top looks really cute on you too.
I like to shop online for the petite sizes, though they only have a limited amount of choices.
I'm not a fan of the first top, it just looks like a lot of fabric and the drape is a bit awkward. The second tee looks better since it fits well and it skims your body! =)
ReplyDeleteI am not a big fan of the fit or style of the first top. It's just too big on you and hides your frame:)
ReplyDeleteI love the striped top and LOFT jeans! The jeans fit you perfectly!!!! What size are those?
Would a wide belt help accentuate your shape better for the dolman top? It is big on you, but maybe it has potential?
ReplyDeleteAs for the striped top, I'm in total agreement with the other ladies, you look great!
the first top does look too big on you and almost overwhelms your small frame. i agree that maybe you can try a wide belt at the waist to cinch it in?
ReplyDeletethe second top is a winner! love the longer length and it totally flatters your figure!

@PetiteLittleGirl - I agree, the more I look at the photos, the first top looks too big and loose on me. I would love to see pics when you get your tee :)
ReplyDelete@SewPetiteGal - Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't own a vest :( I'll probably return it, so when I'm at the store, I'll see if they have a vest for me to try on.
@Elle - Too bad XS is the smallest size for the first top because I'm too cheap to get alterations =P
@JenlovesBal - I only got 30% off for both tops, so if the first one was much cheaper, I'd consider keeping it. But as for now, I think it's going back.
@Stylepint - Thanks for your thoughts, keep the constructive criticisms coming :)
@Really Petite - Thanks for your thoughts, I needed to hear what my head is trying to argue against =P The LOFT jeans are size 24 (00) regular. I'm still amazed that they fit so well. Never before have I found jeans that fit like this!
@Lisa, @kileen - Hmm, I will give a wide belt a shot. I'm not sure if that will solve the 'excess' fabric up top (which was what I liked about it in the first place!) but it's worth a try. Thanks!
Awww, I kind like the oversized sleeves on the first top! I am a little funky when it comes with clothing though heehee. Cute striped t-shirt! Can't wait for you to see you style it with that amazing layering technique you have. =0D
ReplyDeletei love both tops! you really pull them off well :) be sure to check out my new blog! i could use some followers

I also like the oversized tops but I have a similar issue as you. The only thing I can think of is wearing a bra with thicker pads, I know it sounds tacky but I can't think of anything else. It looks good from the front view though.
ReplyDelete@Banhannas - I think I really am layering's #1 fan lol
ReplyDelete@Kara Marie - Thanks, will do!
@Nelah - Nope, not tacky, anything is worth a shot in my book :) I will give the extra padded bra a try.
What a lovely blog you have! And that necklace is gorgeous! Following you now ;) xo
ReplyDeleteThe 2nd top definitely looks good on you, but I'm not a big fan of the first (doesn't seem to look good even on the model). Like others have said, you can try to belt it to help with the bagginess, but I personally wouldn't keep tops that are so high maintenance unless I absolutely love it for some reason. Thanks for the tip about the cowl-neck sale! :)
ReplyDeleteI bought the same cowl neck tee here in black and I love it! I like to wear it off the shoulder sometimes. : ) I couldn't find the striped one in XS, unfortunately. That's how I settled on the black.
