Bait and Switch
Friday, May 27, 2011I got the dreaded Blogger commenting error the other day, but thank goodness I had already made a copy, so all was not lost. I did notice that I was logged into my Gmail account, but not into my Blogger account. What I mean is, when I was leaving a comment, the "Comment as:" option was not preselected to "Cee (Google)" because I had not logged into Blogger yet. Instead, it defaulted to "Comment as: Select Profile." But, in another tabbed window, I was already logged into my Gmail account (with the same email account that Blogger uses). So before the comment could go through, I had to re-log into Blogger, which causes Gmail to log out and re-log in automatically. I think the conflict happened here, and somehow Blogger couldn't handle it, so poof goes the comment.
It's a pain having to switch between different accounts, but I have noticed that whenever I'm already logged into Blogger (not just Gmail, because your profile will be automatically selected in the comment option), I never have this problem. So long story short, I just have to make sure I'm logged out of Gmail and preferably logged into Blogger before I leave a comment. Whew that was long winded. Maybe it's time I switch over to Disqus.
Have you gotten this error before? Do you have any tips to share?

I haven't had the problem you had w/ commenting, but I often have to put my name and comment in more than once - not sure if it's because sometimes I comment via my ipod touch. I just tried signing up for Disqus, but it doesn't work for wordpress.com platforms!
ReplyDeleteSorry, one track mind - almost forgot to mention that I love that skirt!
ReplyDeleteI've had intermittent problems with commenting, but I haven't paid attention to any trends. Next time it happens, I'll see if I'm already logged into blogger.
ReplyDeleteCute skirt, and I love the colours in your outfit.
I've been having the same problem with blogger lately. I don't recall having that issue in the past. Nice color combination, Cee! I returned that skirt cuz it fits really strange on me. Have a great holiday weekend.
ReplyDeletelove that skirt on you. I always get that comment. I usually am logged into gmail first BUT I have like 4 (yes 4) gmail accounts so sometimes I'm confused as to which one I'm logged into and which one I'm viewing blogger with. I was thinking about disqus but I often have issues commenting with disqus too. For one I have to log in all the time. Sometime I try to type a comment and it won't let me. When I do type a comment it will tell me "just a moment" and won't do anything unless I refresh the page and cross my fingers that the comment will go through. OR I close the window just as I noticed the "just a moment" message and by then it's too late and my comment has disappeared. LOL do you like my long winded comment with that one?
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! Love all those pieces together.
ReplyDeleteI only had that problem for a short while today...it was annoying (b/c I don't have any patience lol).
Have a great weekend Cee!
Loving those colors on you!
ReplyDeleteI've never had that problem with Blogger/Google logging out while commenting. However, I've never had both open in 2 separate windows--just 2 separate tabs. I'm using both Chrome & Firefox.

I have the same exact problem. Really wish gmail, blogger, and YouTube could operate independently, but no such luck. Ever had all three open before? I don't recommend it.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy with disqus so far- you can import all your blogger comments and reply to each commenter individually.
Love how you worked the colors together. Although it looks like it fits you perfectly in your picture, how would you rate the way that Express shirt fits? I'm on the hunt for well-fitting button down shirts, so I'm curious.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had any comment errors on Blogger, but I haven't been on as much as I usually am, so perhaps that's why!
It happens to me every time I try to comment, which is why I haven't been commenting on anyone's blogs lately. I have to log into my Wordpress dashboard because I prefer to comment as my Wordpress ID instead of my Google account (my google account is my name and it's searchable, I'd rather do my blog comments under my blog name so that you guys know who I am but anyone googling me won't know what blogs I read). It's a PITA, I tell ya. Then about half the time I log in properly to Wordpress, write a lengthy comment, hit submit and it's gone, never to be seen again. It happens more often than not, which is why I am not commenting much, but I do still read every update!
ReplyDeleteGirl I totally agree, blogger is so annoying with that. And it won't let me log in and out, and people have been having trouble trying to comment on my giveaway. I'm thinking of switching to disquis also

I've been having the same issues with Blogger which is why I haven't been commenting as much. Why is Google messing with their systems lately? =P
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so pretty, skirt is adorable on you!
ReplyDeleteWow I love this whole look - especially that skirt and the gorgeous Valentino flats. I've been having tons of issues with blogger lately :(
ReplyDeleteSo in love with that cardigan! It just goes with everything!!
ReplyDeleteI'm also thinking of Disqus! I'm a horrible emailer because my gmail and blogger are different log-ins. I'm just too lazy to sign in and out whenever I need to switch.
Luckily I have not had those issues with Blogger.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about the probs though!
I still love that skirt on you! It's so pretty and not as hard to match as I thought it would be!
Hope your weekend is going well Cee!
I love the way you've paired that Loft skirt Cee! Haven't had those problems with blogger.....I did try to switch to Disqus last year but wasn't ever able to figure out how to load all of the commnents from blogger so I eventually gave up.
ReplyDelete@questforfashionsense - Aww, but doesn't WordPress have the threaded comments? I think switching blogger platforms is too much of a hassle or I would seriously consider it. Darn my laziness :)
ReplyDelete@overcaffeinated - Yes, please do! I'm curious to see if this is a "known" problem -- perhaps Blogger would find a way to fix it if enough people complain. That may be wishful thinking though :)
@PetiteLittleGirl - The skirt still fits strangely on me too. The height I'm wearing the skirt at requires me to actually tighten the belt (instead of just belting for decorating purposes lol), which causes some bunching. I really should suck it up and take it to the tailors.
@Elaine A (TOBeautyReviews) - A long winded comment, but a helpful one! Thank you for sharing your experiences. I've noticed that Disqus is often a hit or miss for some people too.
@Lilly's Style - I'm not happy that other people are having the same problem because I understand your frustration. But I'm hoping that we see some sort of pattern and learn to work around it!
@gold N turquoise - I use Firefox too, but have yet to try Chrome. Time to add that to my to-do list this long weekend :)
@granola2glam_chris - Does 2 out of 3 count? I think Flickr might also support Gmail, so ugh!
@ShortBlonde - I like the Express shirt, but only if you can find it on sale/with coupons. I'm pretty flat in the chest area, so I feel like there is some excess fabric from where the collar starts to the first button. It's not that big of a deal, but I wouldn't say it fits perfectly either.
@littlenashua - Aww, thanks Kerry! It means a lot that you're taking the time to read/comment :)
@Shasie - Boo :( Hopefully these Blogger issues are short term and they'll get it sorted out soon.
@Stylepint - Don't fix it if it ain't broke, right?! That's a motto I live by :D
@Tara - Thank you!
@Katherine - Thanks :) The skirt's colors turned out especially beautiful in this picture. I wish I remembered what camera setting I had used!
@SewPetiteGal - Hehe, you're the only one who thinks this cardi goes with everything! I'm still having a hard time styling it. I think I need more bright colors in my wardrobe :)
@b_ra - Thank you! And please share your secrets regarding Blogger ;)
@Callandra - Hmm, losing comments is something I don't want to go through either. Thank you for sharing your experiences!
i love the way you paired this skirt! the olive green cardigan really brings out the colors.
ReplyDeleteand i haven't had blogger comment problems in the past, but Disqus has been a good switch for me!
cute & little
Pretty outfit :) I love the floral skirt!
ReplyDeleteThe skirt is such a pretty pattern!

adore that skirt on you! so perfect for spring.. loved that you remixed it with an unusual brown tone cardigan!
ReplyDeleteyah i've been having problems with leaving comments on blogger too.. i've noticed that if i'm signed in sometimes the comment box is not on the page. so weird. sadly i don't have any tips.. i just give up commenting hahaha.. and revist later.
I have been having this problem for over a week now, but seemingly only from certain computers. And never from my phone, oddly enough. And even when I try to log into Blogger, it doesn't log me in, and I keep getting the stupid error message. And I've heard from people that it's kept them off of my blog, too. So obnoxiously annoying.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've actually felt like adding Disqus, too.
u did good my friend. i'm glad this skirt is making an appearance into summertime.
ReplyDeleteI love how you combined the pieces you did to create this outfit. I just found your blog on Color Brigade:)
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
Julie
I have the same problem....now I use my laptop and netbook together (such a nerd, my room is gonna overheat)! Though I don't recommend that idea. Have you tried using different browsers?
ReplyDeleteHowever I've finally moved my blog to self-hosted wordpress!! Just installed Disqus, will see how it goes!
And nice outfit by the way!

I'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
