Double Trouble
Sunday, May 22, 2011Inspired by Shopbop, this Chris Benz Molly dress (below left) caught my attention with its huge cluster of flowers. I did my best to recreate, but I wasn't even close. The placement should have started higher on the shoulders, cascading down to smaller flowers (which I want more of). So in the end, I threw a jacket over the dress, and pinned the flowers on for a good enough compromise. Second time's the charm :)
jacket: American Eagle (similar)
flower pins: Old Navy (similar)
belt: Ann Taylor (other colors currently sold here)
bag: agnes b - gift from cousin
shoes: Nine West (currently sold here)

It doesn't look overly similar, but I prefer the way you wore it, especially with the jacket! I need some flowers...

I like your way so much better! The jacket is a great contrast between the femininity of the dress. Great job Cee!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I like the way you belted it! Did the flowers get in your way?
ReplyDeleteThis is really adorable...I absolutley love your pairing of flower pins!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely love your outfit better Cee!
ReplyDeleteLike how you paired the jacket with the dress. The flowers really finish it off.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers really pop with the jacket on! I think you could create a DIY floral cascade using some bunched up chiffon - maybe I could try a tutorial for this to show you?
ReplyDeleteThe flowers on the original version doesn't look that pretty....too fungus-y imo. So yep, I prefer your look.
ReplyDeleteOOOO such a cute look! I agree that the jacket made the outfit better! :)
ReplyDeleteI think your inspired look is much better than the original.
Those flowers are such perfect accessories for this dress. Your outfit def looks much better.
ReplyDeleteI love your dress and imagine it was a bit more affordable. That dress is perfect for summer. I once but some flower pins at Forever 21. Maybe you'll have some luck finding different flower pins there?
ReplyDeleteI love it, Cee! You are the queen of big flower pins. I still don't know how to wear one :(
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress and I love how you accessorized!
ReplyDeleteI love how you styled it with the military jacket better actually.. It kinda edges up the lacy dress with the flowers. Adore pink with military green such a perfect combo!!
ReplyDeleteYou are ridiculously adorable, and I am running out of ways to tell you that I want to copy every. single. outfit. you post :)
ReplyDeleteI am NOT being biased just because I am a HUGE fan of yours but I actually like ur version better!!! I am going to try the double flowers..so cute and feminine!
ReplyDeleteim so into big flowers right now!! I love what you did to the dress!
ReplyDeletedidnt know your up in Nova..let me know when your in the beach area :D
much <3 for that jacket!
ReplyDeleteAhh, you guys are too nice <3 Thank you :)
ReplyDelete@JenlovesBal - Surprisingly, not so much... but I think it's cuz the flowers weighed down the front of the dress, lol.
@SewPetiteGal - A tutorial would be ever-so-helpful, BUT only if you plan on wearing something similar yourself, because I don't know what else I'd try the flowers with...
@Jarucha - Fungus made me laugh out loud :P I still love the little details in ShopBop's dress!
@Lisa Lisa Lisa - Thanks, I'm keeping my eyes peeled at F21, H&M, and the like. Cute flower pins shouldn't have to cost a lot :)
@kimmie - Tack it on and walk with confidence. Look down your nose snobbishly at anyone who gives you the funny eye b/c they obviously aren't adventurous with fashion. Kidding about the last sentence :)
@simplyvonne - Ditto, let me know if you're up my way :)
I'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
