Easy Breezy Bluesy
Tuesday, May 31, 2011I was wearing this denim jacket when bf and I met up with his sister for lunch the other day. As soon as we sat down, his sister asked, "Are we wearing the same jacket?" I looked down at myself (because when I'm happily eating, I forget what I'm wearing), then looked at hers. "Yep, it looks like it. I got mine from Abercrombie." To which she responded, "Me too! Circa 2002?" "Err... probably? It was a long time ago."
I've always wondered what it would feel like to wear the same thing as someone else in public. Awkward? Embarrassing? Surprisingly, not so much. But if I'm ever out in my crewcuts shirt and see a little boy in the same one, you can bet I'd be running away as fast as I can, hahaha.
Do you have any accidental matching clothing stories to share?

Love this outfit- so fresh and chic....and the necklace is gorgeous on you:D
ReplyDeleteyou're making me want to go back and get those pants! i remember in high school i was wearing the same homecoming dress as someone, but i thought it looked totally different on her, and didnt mind. i usually dont notice what people are wearing, or remember what i'm wearing.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I've totally worn the same thing as someone else before (a purple H&M dress)...twice!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit, especially the necklace - it's so unique!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't feel too weird but maybe just a bit awkward. Seriously, I'd like to be unique even though I know all the clothes I wear is mass-manufactured! HAHA. But I'd probably just say "hey, you got good taste" LOL.
ReplyDeleteStill in love with your necklace.
Love the blue scheme.
ReplyDeleteand yes, I have the same dress as a teacher. a younger teacher thank goodness, but a teacher none the less.
love the outfit!!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter likes to dress to match me, which is so sweet, but I always kind of worry that people think I make her dress the same as me LOL
I'm loving the white pants with denim jacket. Awesome and makes me want to go do same. Also, I always love a preppy touch (the belt)!
ReplyDeleteAnd I meant to tell you yesterday how much I love (and covet) your leather jacket. I really looked for one this past fall, but couldn't manage to fit it into my budget (would have blown an entire month). Maybe this fall...
Anyway, lookin' good, chica!
Oh, and don't even get me started on how fabulous that necklace is...
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! I try to pick up unique pieces so that I don't end up wearing something similar to other people, but it does happen. And when it does, we have a laugh...we're twinsies for the day. =)
ReplyDeleteOooh, that necklace is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhen my parents came to stay with me for a few days with my youngest sister during her spring break, we took Brigid to the zoo. I came downstairs that morning wearing a navy blue striped t-shirt, with a pair of cropped jeans, and I ended up exactly matching my sister, in a similar navy striped t-shirt and cropped jeans. Apparently, I have the styling tendencies of a 17-year old. That's always nice to know...
You are too funny, Cee. I think that finding great pieces from different sources is a testament to one's style. No need to run from kids wearing Crewcuts!
ReplyDeleteI used to buy going out dresses to go to the clubs, and one time a girl had on my same outfit at the venue we were at.

lol your post intro's always cracks me up! I think the only time I had a similar clothing items was when an elderly lady at Whole Foods pointed out that we were wearing the same sandals...well, I do shop in the old-ladies department for comfy shoes, I guess it made her day that a trendy (haha!) young girl was wearing the same shoes :) *Love that necklace with the outfit!
ReplyDeleteI went to a high school friend's wedding and upon arriving noticed that I was wearing the exact same dress as one of the groom's friends' girlfriend (does that make sense). She was not in the wedding, but was helping out with directing people to seats (it was an outdoor wedding and seating was informal). I bought the dress on sale at TJ Maxx, but it was originally from Express. The funny/awkward thing was that I was wearing a size 0 and she was wearing probably closer to an 8 or a 10 and when I made a comment to her about "hey, great dress" she gave me the dirtiest look.
ReplyDeleteI had a blazer from MaxMara and saw a woman of 80 years old wearing the same jacket, so I sell it ;-) x
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is an accident, but more often than not, if it is identical, it was planned!! haha like when shopping with a girlfriend and following head over heels for the same item :) It is almost fun, working our same pieces in very different ways.
ReplyDelete@Really Petite, @Becky - Thank you!
ReplyDelete@purses and puppies - You should try out the pants in other colors -- the pockets may not be as visible!
@questforfashionsense - Now I must see a picture of this famous H&M dress. It must be the bomb.
@Sunshine - I know, right? It's such an oxymoron because thousands of others buy the same clothes we do, haha.
@Hayley - Hehehe, you two should wear the same dress for picture day. The students would probably get a good giggle out of that :)
@Anne - Awwww, that is so cute! I never thought about it that way. But now that I do, I won't be making rash assumptions :)
@Erin - Express has tons of leather (may be faux-leather) jackets. Definitely keep an eye out, especially when they have sales/coupons!
@Stylepint - This reminds me of our blogging community, especially when it comes to popular stores like LOFT... we're all twins, triplets, quadruplets!
@Tara - Hahaha, or your lil sis has mature taste? We oldies have to find ways to stay young!
@gold N turquoise - :D I'd like to think I could find the humor in the situation and work up the courage to take a picture with little kids in Crewcuts, lol.
@Shasie - Hehehe, at least the clubs were dark? Semi-dark? Trying to look on the bright side here :)
@Olyvia - Such a cute story! I know if I was the old lady, you would have made my day :)
@littlenashua - *SMH* some people can't take a compliment. Kudos to you for being the bigger person!
@Fashion Mom - Awww... to put it in a better light, she is one fashionable 80 yr old lady ;)
@Lisa Lisa Lisa - That sounds like so much fun. I've always wished I had a sister, or gfs who wear the same type of clothes I do!
LOL about forgetting what you were wearing while eating and running away from a kid wearing your Crewcuts shirt! And (another and!) amazing that you would match someone on an older item like your denim jacket!
ReplyDeleteGreat look! I especially love how crisp it looks with the belt :)
I think with something like jeans, can't really notice if it looks the same. But if something has a particular print, its more noticeable to the eye...and then I feel a bit awkward. I know, its typical with big chain stores but still.
ReplyDeleteOMGOSH that amrita signh necklace is FANTASTIC!! the metal work is stunning i love that! i swear your rock white linen pants like nobodies business!!
ReplyDeletehaha that story is so cute.. actually i do have one.. one of my girlfriends bought a black jumbo caviar flap w/ GHW.. like right after i bought mine. and one time we were at dinner.. and she showed up wearing it when i was wearing it too. A-W-K-W-A-R-D.. do you have any idea how awkward it is for two girls to be wearing the SAME exact purse in public especially when you're hanging out together. it's weird. anyways i try not to wear it whenever i see her now hahhaa.
Haha! that's too funny. My sister and I own a couple of the same items and when I wear mine and I know she'll be there too, I'll text her to make sure she's not wearing hers. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to have a Gap denim jacket that looked really similar and I wish I hadn't donated it. I actually thrifted one that looked almost identical to it for an 80s party, and was sad that I had to pay money for something I used to have. But the new one is a little TOO 80s looking. :(
@SewPetiteGal - Haha, I'm just silly like that :)
ReplyDelete@Jarucha - I know what you mean. I didn't think my denim jacket's detailing was all that unique either. She just has a good eye :)
@Lisa - Hahaha, did you guys end up sitting next to each other? Were other people pointing it out and making you guys stand together to take pictures? I would've had the grouchiest look on my face, lol.
@kimmie - On my bummy days, bf would ask me if I'm wearing my college shirt when he wants to wear his. How dorky would it be to see a couple both wearing their same school shirts?!
An outfit post with this 80s looking jacket sometime? I bet you can make it look modern!
Great outfit there! :)
ReplyDeleteOne question : do you get your pants hemmed? Me also being petite find it hard to find pants which I can wear with flats! Your help would be appreciated! :)
