Color Swap
Sunday, August 07, 2011I loved the brown, white, hot pink, and orange color pairing of this DSquared2 outfit from their Resort 2012 collection. I couldn't duplicate the look exactly, but came up with a more casual version by swapping the colors around a bit. No orange shoes? Orange necklace to the rescue. No pink skirt? A pink tee will do. White shorts and an olive/brown cardigan finished off my look.
Are you a fan of using runway looks as inspirations?
cardigan: J.Crew perfect-fit mixed-tape (sold here)
ring: Amrita Singh Deauville (sold here)
clutch: H&M snake-embossed envelope (may still be in stores; similar)
belt: Forever 21 braided (similar)
shorts: American Eagle washed classic (this season's version sold here)
flats: Valentino bow ballerina (similar)

Oooohhh...I love your interpretation of the inspiration photo! Thanks for passing that bit of inspiration on!
ReplyDeleteYou always layer your jewelry perfectly! I'll have to try out this olive & pink combo :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love your interpretation, Cee. The darker brown/olive color I think works better with pink/white combo. I have never done a runway inspired outfit before. Maybe I should give it a shot. Sounds like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI am IN LOVE with this color combo (and the pieces you used, too!)
ReplyDeleteI love your version so much better! What a pretty combo of colors!
ReplyDeletethis is a great look, you kept the casual "i didnt try" vibe, but made it appropriate for, well, anything casual. those colors together are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love!! and you stacked your necklaces.....it's fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteThis color combo is super flattering and absolutely gorgeous! Great interpretation on the runway look.

ReplyDeleteGreat color combo, Cee! I am a huge fan of using runway looks to recreate my everyday looks.
ReplyDeleteGreat job w/ the inspirational look! Now I'm feeling inspired...haha, especially b/c I have orange shoes. ;D
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! I love your interpretation of this look!
ReplyDeleteRemember that H&M necklace that looked like the J. Crew Bubble Necklace? They had a reddish-orange version in H&M today (previously only had turquoise) if you're interested :)
Great inspiration! I love your version of the look :) The necklaces are great layered too, would have never thought about that!
ReplyDeleteUh...awesome!! This is such a pretty combo!!
ReplyDeleteI saw your clutch at H&M on Friday and thought of you! <3
I have a bunch of tear out pictures from magazines for inspiration, but they are not readily available to gawk at! So defeats the purpose. Will be fixing that!
I would have never thought of this color combo...I must admit, I may flip through a magazine or see something on TV that I like but I am just too lazy to recreate....I need to fix that.
ReplyDeleteI like ur version better! I freaking love those colors together!!
ReplyDeletei'm so in love with this look that i even pinned it on my Pinterest! i love this color combination and you look so good in pink! i do get inspiration from runway looks sometimes but have to admit that bloggers are ultimately my first source. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you did this. Very inspirational.

ReplyDeleteI love seeing your interpretation of the D2 look...I need to learn to be more creative like you!
ReplyDeleteI love what you do in your own version. This color combo is very pretty. I wore something very very similar on Sunday but with a different set of colors. You look tres chic, as always. Can't wait to see you in Fall clothes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cee for your flattering compliment on the photo, a photographer will smile from ear to ear..hehe.
love!!!
ReplyDeleteCee, you have inspired me to pay more attention to how people dress. Can you believe that I would flip through magazine images and not note about the fashion inspirations at all? Urghhh!!! *shame*
ReplyDeleteyour interpretation is beautiful!
Adore this color combination! I love looking at other photos for color inspiration <3

I <3 how well you put the pink tee with other colors. I would've never thought to match it the way you did in this post. You look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone :)
ReplyDelete@purses and puppies - Haha, believe me, I tried!
@questforfashionsense.com - Yes, please wear an outfit with your orange shoes! I bet they make such a statement.
@SewPetiteGal - I saw the red necklace too! I considered buying it but felt the red color was too close to coral (which I already own). H&M needs to come out with one in white, or black, or any color that I don't already own :D
@Michelle - I bet you've got some gems in those magazine tear-outs. I used to do that too, but I don't remember where I put my stash. If I ever find it, I'll have to make sure I find time to scan them all in.
@kileen - Yup, bloggers are slowly becoming the top inspiration for me as well. Too many good ideas out there!
@Sunshine - Haha, I used to browse through magazines lightning fast, wondering why there was so little content. Until I realized a lot of the ads were so beautiful, both in photography and styling, that now I'm slow as a turtle when I read magazines :)
@kimchi girl - Girl, you read my mind. Like white? And I have a black pencil skirt that's calling my name too :)
I love ur recreation! So chic & casual. I kind of like yours better!
ReplyDeletePS: check out my color brigade http://mariacamilascloset.blogspot.com/2011/08/i-have-been-away-from-my-blog-and.html#dsq-form-area-280861197
I don't usually use runway looks...I use blogger looks! :) I never would have thought of wearing extra necklaces with the nello b/c I thought it was such a big statement necklace already! I'm so gonna copy...lol...maybe you'll see it on my blog in a few months! :P
ReplyDeleteI love the colour combo of your outfit too!
