Petite Fashion Challenge #10: Summer to Fall
Wednesday, August 31, 2011
Hosted by Liza @ Fashion for Teens, Petite Fashion Challenge #10: Summer to Fall has us taking traditionally summer pieces (ie: tank tops, shorts, mini skirts, sundresses, etc) and make them appropriate for fall.
A sundress was my chosen piece of clothing for both looks.
For a casual summer outfit: I raised the hemline, wore a bag crossbody and added flip-flops. I accessorized with fun flower pins, rings, and a denim jacket for chillier weather at night.
For the transition to fall: I played off the dress' print and used darker shades of green and brown for the rest of the outfit. A longer jacket and booties finished off the look. I considered wearing tights, but it didn't seem right with the fabric and print of the dress.

never would have though of wearing that dress into the fall! the colors you chose for the jacket and belt definitely make it fit in fall. and those booties... wow. i hope to see more of those! perhaps i'll actually get enough courage to get my first pair this year?
ReplyDeleteWow i love how you transformed the fall look :)

those boots are such a contrast to the femininity of the dress...at first it shocked me...but i'm kinda digging it now ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute!!! I love the tennis court picture!!
ReplyDeleteLove your thinking behind the green. Those booties are hot!!
I wish I could wear flats..I've been lusting after a pair of simple flipflops like yours to wear with summer dresses, but I am one of those people who won't leave the house in at least a 1.5" heel (the rare exception to that rule being when I am 100% totally slumming it and I opt for soccer sandals).
ReplyDeleteDamn Cee you look so great! I love the way you add so much detail to all your outfits.
ReplyDeleteI love the 2nd outfit. Those booties are hot!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute Cee! I especially love the striped belt plus olive jacket!
ReplyDeleteI love the jacket and booties with that dress... I never would have thought to put that together-- you did a fantastic pairing!
ReplyDeletei'm totally loving how you transitioned this dress!! i totally just pinned this outfit to my pinterest and am going to refer to it for inspiration. great job, cee!

That dress is such a hard print & color combo to make "fallish"! Bravo for taking on a challenge, and well done!
ReplyDeleteCute! I love the army green jacket, it works wonderfully with the dress!
ReplyDeleteAnother great outfit! OMG, I am so in love with your booties. I don't see you wear high heels very often. Are they comfy? I was looking at the exact same pair on Ebay recently.
ReplyDeleteI love your booties. I usually don't love booties but I was instantly impressed with yours.
ReplyDeleteWell done! Those AT booties are fab!
ReplyDeletesigh - I wish I can wear booties with them cutting me off at an unflattering place. You make me want to go dig for that pair I abandoned.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have officially begun a search for denim jackets thanks to you and Khatu. To think I donated my old one because I thought there is no way they can look "in"...
Thank you all :)
ReplyDelete@easy petite looks - I can promise the booties will be making more appearances :)
@kimchi girl - Me too! Anything masculine paired with feminine = a win in my book ;)
@littlenashua - Bummer =/ I've seen lots of cute thong flats with a small heel, and just in time for all the summer clothing to hit sales too.
@PetiteLittleGirl - Not comfortable right now, but ask me again after a few wears. Here's hoping they just need to be broken in :D
@Elle - Hehe, I love being an enabler :) AE and A&F have lots of denim jackets without breaking the bank. Good luck with your hunt!
I'm so attracted to your booties! Another photo that makes me "want to have it"! haha I'm so looking forward to fall fashions :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Ann Taylor covered platform booties on you. They looked kind of chunky on the site but the lines look so clean on your legs! Oh, to be 5'4" with slender legs LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe booties are perfect for transitioning to Fall...I love that dress on you Cee! :D
ReplyDeleteGreat transition, Cee. The olive jacket and the booties really turn that summer dress into a chic fall outfit!
ReplyDeleteyours might be my favorite transformation. I love the booties. I wish you provided more pics of the fall look so I can pin it!
ReplyDeleteLove the fall look. The shoes are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love this fall look...the booties, the jacket...it's all so great with the floral pattern on the dress. This is definitely an instant add to my inspiration folder!
ReplyDeleteThat's really clever..raising the hemline! I've got to try to incorporate that into my outfits sometime! Never thought anyone would be able to convert a summer dress to a fall outfit, yours is definitely one of my faves for the challenge!
ReplyDelete-Lor
I love your transition look! Amazing! I think I like the transition look better than the summer look! haha
