PFC #8: Spinning the Favorite (+Day 5/30)
Thursday, June 16, 2011
Hosted by Gracie @ Radiator Sessions, Petite Fashion Challenge #8: Spinning the Favorite has us venturing out of our comfort zones to expand our styling skills. We are to take a “go-to” outfit, put a spin on it by styling it in a different way but still keeping a couple of essential components.
My go-to outfit (sweats and a tshirt doesn't count, right?) usually consists of a button-up, accessories, and flats. This suits my simple, laid-back, and preppy style.
What I have a hard time doing is dressing up. So for this challenge, I channeled my inner glamourazon with a slight vintage* feel. I kept the same dress but mixed up the accessories. Yes to over-sized sunglasses, up-do (hard to tell, but I swear I put effort into it!), red lips (I cheated in Photoshop though :( because I couldn't find my lip gloss), and high heels. Is this too much? Too little? Just right? Kudos to all you girls who take the time every morning to do your hair and makeup; I am at the top of the list for laziest bloggers :D
*I ran the photo through some Photoshop filters, so the colors are slightly off

i love the before and after!! and omg, your head is in the picture!! i like it, but i actually really love your "everyday" looks more :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE this. I think you're the only one that did the challenge the way I thought it was supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job Cee!!! I love the dress on you and both looks are so YOU :D
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD! I can see your beautiful face! I love it! (oh, and the outfit is cute, too) Are we going to see more of this loveliness? Pretty please??
ReplyDeleteHaha, I see many others have already commented on seeing your face. AMAZING! ;D I love both looks, and for your last outfit, I don't know why, but I just had a vision of you being in Paris with the wind softly blowing...and I've never even been to Paris! LOL. Superb!
ReplyDeleteI love this one Cee! And I can certainly recreate the look - thank you ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is so, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. Love the fit of the dress on you! You make it look so classy with the scarf tied like that : )
ReplyDeleteYour dress is sooo pretty :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the lace dress, it's gorgeous! Love how you turned it to look like a skirt!
ReplyDeleteLOOK!!! I almost fell outta my chair!! :) It's you!
ReplyDeleteThat scarf is soooo beautiful and elegant on you, I adore this look!
Ok, you are seriously ROCKIN it these days... In this post and in others. Very gorgeous looks!
ReplyDeleteI love both outfits! I love seeing ur face in the photo! Do more do more! U have great style
ReplyDeletelove the casual to dressy transition! i have the same dress and can't get enough. the scarf is truly the pièce de résistance--so fierce!

I love that you showed different ways to wear the dress. Brilliant. Shows creativity and gives great ideas for your readers.
ReplyDeletelove!
Cee, I would have to disagree with you...I hardly think that you are a lazy blogger! Your outfits are the complete opposite of lazy. Yay for showing us your face! I love the very first look with the dress and the dress shirt. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Oh my god, Cee...LOVE the end (or "second") look! And muaha...I have almost everything to recreate your look down the your exact scarf shoes and bag. I just need a pair of glam oversized sunglasses for this Jackie O end result.
ReplyDeleteI actually like your day 5 look more than your spinning the fav look. Maybe I'm more of a casual gal. How did you manage to make that button up shirt look like it was part of the dress? I can never do such a thing.
ReplyDeleteI love the second/end look. So chic!
ReplyDeletePeek-a-boo...I see you! I love both, but your second look wins over my feminine heart. You look like a parisian chic girl.
ReplyDeleteWHOA a REVEAL!!!! You gorgeous thing you!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love both looks. Now I'm kind of kicking myself for NOT getting that dress when on vacation. So absolutely gorgeous!
OH MY FREAKIN' GAWD!!! is that really you?!?! *shrieks*
ReplyDeletethis is so gorgeous. i am so insanely in LOVE w/ this look it's not even funny. you never cease to amaze me girlfriend. =P
kimchi girl
Love it!! I also have trouble with dressing up... but you know what - you wouldn't be able to tell that you aren't a pro at it based on these pics! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe dress with that scarf and black sash is just perfect! And your sunglasses are perfect with it too! Very classy! Yay for full image! haha, I photoshop all the make-up on my face when I do show my face on my blog since I'm lazy for makeup too, especially since I normally break out so much with makeup, so I have no problems with you photo-shopping "fake makeup", haha It's way more challenging to put on makeup than putting clothes together for sure! but the red lips is a nice touch for that vintage glamour
ReplyDeletei love both versions of your signature look! that dress is gorgeous and i love the old-school glamour of your "new" look!
ReplyDeletecaroline - pictures & wordst
I love the classy and elegant second look, but your usual style is really cute and wearable. How did you get your shirt to look as though it were tucked into your dress above the belt in the pic on the left?
ReplyDeleteWohoo! I love the fact that I can see your head! LOL. I mean, I know it was always there, but I always wondered what it looked like. =P
ReplyDeleteOnto your outfit, I love how you switched it up and you totally did the Audrey Hepburn look in the last photo. J'ADORE! =)
I love your lace dress! :)
ReplyDeleteKisses!
♥ Dressy Celeb ♥
yay for the beautiful face! i so want u to come style me!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteYou're so glamorous in the last pic!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty dress. It's nice to see how you styled it in two ways - really creative
ReplyDeleteooooh what made you do this reveal?? publicly this time. hahahaha.
ReplyDeletedude, i've been going through all the challenge entries, i still honestly don't get the challenge. sounds like a previous challenge. anyways...i like yours the best.
omg Ceeeee!!! eek i'm so behind on reading the entries but *GASP* there you are! i no longer deem you blogger anonymous (which means i epxect close up shots too) muahahaha. gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteok about this whole challenge thing...this is how i understand it: you pick a "go-to" outfit and jazz it up. you listed your "go-to" items as button-up, accessories, and flats --> which means in your new look, you should incorporate those items and put a new spin on them right? but you kept the dress and not the other stuff...so then you really should have listed the dress as your "go-to" item to be in line with the challenge, am i correct?
omg i'm getting confused too haha. but that was my take on the challenge. i guess all of us understood it differently :D
anywhoo, so glad to finally meet your face haha :P
Thank you all so much for your kind and encouraging words!
ReplyDelete@Erin, @aNewFoundLove - More full shots coming (I hope), especially if I remember to put on sunglasses ;)
@questforfashionsense - Me neither, but now I know what to wear if I ever go :)
@Callandra, @PetiteAsianGirl - Yes, please create away! Not only will I be looking forward to see how you guys wear it, but also at the beautiful photos.
@Bethany, @kimchi girl - Hahaha, why does it sound like you guys just met Brad Pitt or someone famous?! It's only me :)
@b_ra - Hehehe, I meant lazy as in doing my hair and putting on makeup. My sleep is much more precious to me, lol. I don't feel like I'm a lazy blogger... in fact, I think I post too much sometimes!
@Jarucha, @Petite-ish - Button the shirt, but leave the bottom two unbuttoned. Tie the ends in a knot and tuck the ends under. I think it may only work if the shirt is kind of fitted, otherwise the knot comes peeking back out often. If you give it a shot, let me know how it goes :)
@Elaine A (TOBeautyReviews) - But... you have the skirt! I'm kicking MYSELF for not hunting down one in my size.
@Olyvia - Wow, props to you. It took me forever to Photoshop red lips on, I can't imagine how much work it takes to do the whole face. Or is it not as bad as I'm thinking? The clone stamp tool?
@AubreyOhDang! - Imagine the photo with the head cropped off... it just doesn't have the same effect, right?! So I finally gave in and resized the image small enough but still showing all the details. Plus I have that big ol' sunglasses covering half my face, lol.
@Sunshine - Hahaha, I just went and re-read the rules, and I think you're right! D'oh! I took it to mean wear your usual outfit that suits your style, then take some pieces and come up with a different look, so preppy -> glamour revolving around the dress. And I thought the dress was essential because I'd be nekkid with out, even if it wasn't part of my original style. Ahh... I'll be more careful next time? :)
PS - I'm still anonymous! The sunglasses are covering over half my face!
You always look so put together and effortless! You're always trying new things and I'm always filing away your ideas to try later. =D Plus, your legs look awesome in flats!
ReplyDeleteOh Cee, you are you freaking gorgeous! Seriously beautiful. Nice job on wearing sunglasses to stay anonymous - I may have to borrow that trick :) I love the double belting of look #1 and the pure glam vibe of look #2!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite PFC post out of the bunch! You look great and I'm digging your preppy style. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, Cee. I couldn't tell that you were photoshopping your makeup. That’s awesome! Maybe I should do that too. It sure will save me a lot of time in the morning :) You did a fantastic job with the challenge. Just like everyone else, I love the second look.
ReplyDeleteOooO! I am liking this glamourazon with slight vintage feel! You're oozing with class from head to toe. I love the scarf, such classic feel.
ReplyDeleteWow, your look is GORGEOUS! You definitely look like a vintage glam goddess from the 60s. The outfit reminds me of a Vintage store I just went to in Seattle. I bet you'd love it. :) I'll show you in a future post or something!
ReplyDeleteI was trying to convince my sister not to go to dc since it's father's day weekend..so im sure that it's going to be crazy traffic and it has been so hot lately!! but apparently she still want to go haha
ReplyDeleteyes let do a meet up someday! I might have to do some major work out first so i can look fit and petite like you though :D
OMGOSH HEAD TO TOE SHOT! loves it!! you're so mysterious with the big sunnies.. but i love it.. it adds to the vintage feel of the entire outfit.. love the red lips hon!!
ReplyDeletehahah yes we are total nerds.. i wanted to go up closer.. but my friend who was driving the boat didn't want us to get in trouble by the boating police.. hahaha i dunno if he made that up.. but i'd be embarrassing if we ended up in the news because we were stalking bill gates pad hahaha.
WOW. the lace skirt looks fantastic as a skirt and as a dress. lovely remix right there.
ReplyDeletei love your hair all slicked back like that too. and you do look glam! good job!
I leave my google reader feed for a few days, and you get all crazy with the full body shots :)
ReplyDeleteI love both looks, but I can't believe you'd call yourself a lazy blogger, at all, because your outfits are always some of my favorites, and you are a permanent fixture in my inspiration folder. When are you coming to Atlanta to teach me how to layer/accessorize properly, again?
Oh My! I can see you! I'm so excited! I don't know why it's so exciting to put that face to the words, but it is! Thanks for showing us who you are.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Gah, you need to do a scarf tutorial for all of us who don't know different ways to tie one... I've been looking for a scarf like this since I saw this outfit... love
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
