Day 2/30: Classics
Monday, June 13, 2011To me, nothing screams classic more than wearing black and pearls. It's a tried and true timeless combo -- one that I like to wear on my "fat" days every month for that slimming effect, lol. Taking cues from Khatu's PFC #7, I paired a black top with a black skirt for a faux-LBD look. I would've kept the overall look simple with one strand of pearls, but that isn't a piece of jewelry I own... so on goes the multi-strand pile. What items do you turn to for a classic look?
top: H&M - gift from Elle
belt: J.Crew (similar)
skirt: Gap (this season's version sold here)
ring: Amrita Singh (currently sold here)
shoes: Ann Taylor (currently sold here)
bag: Longchamp (currently sold here)

Strangely enough, I don't have a pearl necklace. Maybe should look out for one but I gravitate more to edgy jewelry. Classics would prob be black dress, tailored pants, pencil skirt....the more I think, I'm realizing I don't really have a "classic" pieces. Uh oh.
ReplyDeletelove! you look like a ladies who lunch (@ neimans) hahaha
ReplyDeletethe simple classic LBD with the pearls are stunning :)
I've been a silent follower, but just wanted to pop in to say that I love ALL... and I do mean ALL the outfits you put together! Needless to say, your style in dressing is my stylish yet still down-to-earth for everyday wear. I loveeeee 'em! :)
ReplyDeleteI really love this look, super classic and chic!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I've ever worn anything classic... lols! I mostly go for the whimsical and the colorful. This is a good example, though. I like that you made a faux LBD look! :)
ReplyDeletethis is perfect, love it! sometimes i think i need to wear more black, lol.
ReplyDeleteI love your 2 looks so far!! I'm too late to join the challenge...again1!! I only have one simple pearl necklace strand...they're so versatile I gotta find one similar to yours!! You look like you're gonna walk into an office and take over!!

Oh I love this look. The pearl strands look amazing against black! I agree, it looks like a dress from the way you styled it!
ReplyDeleteBlack, pearls and cardigans, a few of my favorite things. :) I was fooled by the skirt & shirt combo, actually thought it was a LBD! Love the classic look, especially the strings of pearls.
ReplyDeleteI also had to do a double take when I read that you had made a faux LBD. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteIt is very classic! I think you did a great job in creating a "LBD". Can't wait to see day 3!
ReplyDeleteLove this classy look! I need to buy me some pearls.
ReplyDeletevery cassic, AND classy. and i like the multi strands on you, gives it more of a *punch* than just the single.

you definitely look super classy and elegant. I need to find a one strand of pearl to wear with a black dress too!
ReplyDeleteI just love how you look so mysterious and it make the reader want to know more since your only showing your body and not face :) and check out those HOT legs ;)
This look is so clean and sophisticated. I love it! I planned on doing something similar with one of the black dresses I picked for this challenge and let's hope I execute it as well as you do!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous Cee! I love pearls too but I only have a short strand, need some long ones like yours!
ReplyDelete@Jarucha - I would say only get it if it suits your lifestyle/wardrobe. I have some pieces lying around that I rarely use. I bought them b/c they're beautiful, but I don't know how to make it work =/
ReplyDelete@Lisa - Now if the occasion ever arise, I'll have the perfect outfit handy ;)
@Thu-Hang Tran - Hi Thu-Hang! Thank you so much for your kind words. Please feel free to critique. I swear I don't bite :)
@KohLepe, @purses and puppies, @JenlovesBal, @ShortBlonde, @questforfashionsense - Thank you all :)
@hurricanekerrie - Yes, whimsical and colorful suits you quite well!
@Petite in the City - You can join any time! There's no set start date, end date, rules. Feel free to make up your own as you go!
@b_ra - Ahh, it's too hard to top the previous day's, so bear with me as I'm sure there will be some rough patches!
@Lilly's Style - Really?! I would have pegged you as the owner to many pearl necklaces given your style.
@kimchi girl - Yay to things working out for the better, though not intended, haha.
@simplyvonne - Hahaha, one day, on Thurs perhaps? ;) there should be a surprise :D
@Elle - Of course you will! You wear heels like nobody's business :)
@Elaine A (TOBeautyReviews) - Wanna swap? :) And when we get tired of it, we can swap back lol.
This is so simple and classic, yet stunning! Love the necklace!
ReplyDeleteYou always look super classy, so I don't think this is really a stretch for you ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the fake-LBD look, a lot. I have a gray A-line dress tha I love. That usually ends up being the dress that gets the pearl treatment...
It does look like a LBD! What a great way to stretch existing pieces!
ReplyDeleteHmm...classics? Can't go wrong with a tailored button down, slacks, pumps, and pearls :)
I adore this look, very sophisticated.
ReplyDeletei love this one~
ReplyDeleteI rarely say this, but this looks so effortless and comfortable while work appropriate. Super cute.
