Bare-ly There

Tuesday, August 09, 2011

The other day I went out to lunch with a couple gfs. One of whom I saw for the first time since she became pregnant. So of course the minute she walked through the door, I couldn't help but look at her stomach. I guess I was staring a little too intensely (her bump was well hidden) because I jumped when she called me out on it, hahaha.

This got me thinking that I should probably start being more discreet when I check others out. I'm talking about other girls' outfits of course, (I have no control over my eyes when a good-looking guy walks by) because the last thing I want to come off as is a stalker, albeit an outfit-stalker. So if you're in the DC area and you see a girl walking into little kids while staring at your outfit, call me out on it please! That is, after making sure the kids are okay first.

  1. Oh, you're from the DC area as well? Where from, if you don't mind me asking? I'm stationed in the suburbs myself.

I love the touch of understated elegance the scarf brings to this otherwise casual outfit. You look great as always.

  3. I definitely am an outfit watcher! I've gotten some great inspiration from people just walking down the street. I try not to be stalkerish about it, but I never know if that's how I come across. :P

  4. Hahaha I am!! I find myself most often outfit stalking at church. And I try not to be too obvious, but sometimes I think people might think I'm weird. I've complimented random girls while out and about on certain things they were wearing before, too and they always look at me so strangely!

  5. I'm an outfit stalker too. DH loves to call me out on it. Dark sunglasses help to keep the stalking covert. Lol

  10. Lol!! Yeah, I check outfits frequently...I probably look like a perv, so I try to speak up if I am caught..."I love your outfit!" Makes me feel like less of a creepo! :p

I love that clutch and scarf so much! And that belt! My local J. Crew stores already shipped all their stuff out. :( No more sale items. Such a bummer!

  17. Cute clutch, Cee! : ) And yesss, I always check out other people's outfits - men and women alike. It's actually pretty easy in the summer because with sunglasses, I can stare all I want! LOL

  20. My sister-in-law and I stalk outfits together, so we're always whispering about someone or another. It makes me feel like such a witch, even though we're actually whispering about what we like, so I always have to go tell the person what I like, so they know I'm not being snarky about them. This is one of the reasons I shouldn't be allowed in public, probably...

I love how you used the scarf with this outfit! Classy :)

  21. I am definitely an outfit watcher! The best part about discovering blogs is that you can watch / analyze what everyone is wearing from the comfort of your own home :)

Love the glitter belt paired with the blue top and white shorts - super summery punched up with glam!

  22. Thank you, everyone <3

@Anna - Yup, I'm in NoVA. What about you?

@Tiffany - I can imagine sitting in a back pew at church would be a great way to stalk outfits :)

@overcaffeinated, @The Little Dust Princess - Haha, good call on the sunglasses! I usually only wear them while driving (or outfit pictures). I'll have to rethink this and start carrying them with me wherever I go.

@Heather - That's the way to go! I always regret not speaking up but instead memorizing every detail I can and then googling when I get home. It's usually a 50/50 shot that I'll be able to find the same item.

@Cher - Haha, if I have a secret I promise I would share! I usually leave for work pretty early in the mornings, so it's still relatively cool. It helps that the AC is blasting at work, so the only time I have to deal with the heat is on the commute home.

@Michelle - This is the first time I've heard of J.Crew shipping out their items. Where to? A lot of items did pop up online. But I'm guessing the outlets? I'll keep my eyes out for the belt for you then :) The clutch should still be at H&Ms. Let me know if you can't find it and I can get one for you.

@gold N turquoise - YES bags are the first things I notice too, both the good and the bad :)

@kileen - Hehehe, I think my bf is too busy looking out for little kids and making sure I don't run into them ;)

@simplyvonne - Umm... NO, hahaha. As some old ladies like to say, "I may be old, but I'm not blind."

@Elaine A (TOBeautyReviews) - I think if we ever get together, we'd never be able to keep a convo going. Our eyes will be too busy wandering, lol.

@makeupandpearls - Bags first for me, shoes second. If I was shorter, it'd probably be the other way around :)

@Tara - Lol, my friends and I do that all the time! Well, it's mostly them because they can speak another language. It's times like this that I regret not keeping my language skills fresh.

@SewPetiteGal - Amen! Technology makes everything so much easier. I think it'd be creepy if I share my blog stalking tactics, so let's just leave it at that :)
