Half black, half white
Tuesday, April 12, 2011Black and white reminds me of the last time boyfriend wore a white top with black pants. We were at a friend's wedding where he half wondered if guests would mistaken him for one of the waitstaff. I was tempted to ask a random guest to come up and inquire when hor d'oeuvres would be served, just to see his reaction. Alas, the compassionate side of me decided against it.
Ok you got me, I was looking out for myself. It could've been a longgg ride home.

The denim jacket adds a nice casual touch to a more formal look! You are totally rocking those pumps.. they look gorgeous on you.
ReplyDeleteblack and white is one of my favorite pairings! you look superstylish in this combo!
ReplyDeleteThe look would be totally different without the jacket...I think you are a pro at combining two opposite styles but somehow makes it look put-together. Apparently this H&M lace shirt is more versatile than I thought. I still am iffy about H&M in general though.
ReplyDeleteIs it me or do your legs look extra long in those pants? I love how you did the side by side pics and show how a jean jacket can change an outfit...great job Cee!! :D
ReplyDelete@JenlovesBal - Thank you for noticing, Jen :) I'm slowly but surely training my feet to wear pumps. The progress hasn't been as painful as I originally thought *knock on wood*
ReplyDelete@Leena - Yes, you pull off this classic combo so well!
@Jarucha - I think it's more like all my jackets as casual, so I throw it on hoping it works, haha. I used to feel the same way about H&M, but their pieces don't seem as teeny-bopper to me as F21, so that is one thing I really like. Have you seen their Conscious Collection due to hit stores on Thurs?! I LOVE EVERYTHING.
@Really Petite - The black pants and heels must be really slimming because I'm quite normal proportioned in real life. Thank you for the compliment, Annie :)
Hahah it would have been worth the ride home for me. too funny. LOVE the loose bow tie.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely don't look like a member of the waitstaff in this! I think black & white can be so chic when done correctly, and you look awesome. Love the casual touch the denim jacket adds too.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't step foot inside Forever 21. Maybe its b/c I don't want to invest in poor quality clothing that falls apart after a couple of washes. I bought something at H&M and I am going to return it (hopefully). I guess I rather buy everything I owe from Loft. I looked at the Conscious collection - looks promising...a lot of very appropriate stuff for summer...I recall The Little Dust Princess showing a few pics of the collection.
ReplyDeleteI really love those pants on you - they make you look sooo tall (like 5'9ish) especially love the general silhouette of the skinny pants + heels. Heels really suit you!
ReplyDeleteThis is another really cute outfit. wow ... you really know how to put things together! And I love those pumps, and I am *not* a pump person. You are making me rethink all the styles that I don't usually go for.
ReplyDeleteNEVER EVER would have thought to put this combo together. *sigh*...i'm def. not in your league, but hope to one day be as fashionable as you Cee!
ReplyDeleteLOL about your BF! whenever my BF wears khakis w/ a tucked in polo shirt, i tell him he looks like he works @ verizon, =P
lol on the bf. You are too nice! Have those perfect ann taylor pumps stretched out on you at all after several wear? I think you might have the same size feet as me (since our Ralph Lauren Aela's are the same size and those fit me perfectly). I'm waiting for a sale again to get the perfect pumps, but I'm torn what size to pick, 5.5 or 6
ReplyDeleteSo how come I can't find any of those items that you're wearing? :-)
ReplyDelete@Hayley - Hehehe, I'd like to think he would've taken it in stride :)
ReplyDelete@Kristen - Thank you :) I actually think I look more like a waitress with the sash on, lol. But I liked that extra touch!
@Jarucha - Too true... I try to stay away from F21 also. Sometimes I just can't turn away from their cheap prices!
@SewPetiteGal - Thanks SPG! What I would give to be 5'9" for a day... just to see what it's like looking down on other people's heads :)
@Kari - Thanks :) The items I'm wearing are probably hard to find because I tend to buy on sale, so most sizes are sold out :( The sequin top is still there! Might have to use a store locator to find your size though. The pumps are available online in all sizes! The pants unfortunately are last season's, but any skinny black pants will do :)
@Kimchi Girl - You're way too kind, thank you. HAHA @ Verizon worker. My initial thought was a golfer, but Verizon worker is much funnier!
@Olyvia - Nope, I don't think patent stretches out as much as regular leather. I can actually see imprints of my feet on the inside of the shoe -- the leather is so soft. I have normal-to-wide feet, so my normal size 6 worked. If you have narrower feet, I'd suggest sizing down. If you're still unsure, I'd suggest getting the size 5.5 because you can always exchange for a size 6 in stores. Good luck!
This outfit is AWESOME!!! I saw it yesterday and was really eager to comment but blogger ate my comment the first time around and I didn't have time then to re-comment. But just want to say I LOVVVVVVVVVVEEEE it, I love how you made a new top out of two old pieces!
ReplyDeleteHaha, that would've been funny...but I'm sure your BF would have not appreciated that :)
ReplyDeleteAlways love the black and white combo! Looking chic and stylish as usual!
i love the classic black and white! and the jean jacket definitely breaks up the color a bit and make it more casual. love it!
ReplyDeletecute & little
Your outfit looks great! That would have been funny to do to the boyfriend. I'm might have been tempted to. I love the jean jacket added in.
ReplyDeletePlease come to Atlanta, teach me how to match pieces from my closet like you do, then hang out with me and ogle athletes on tv for an afternoon?
ReplyDeletePlease?!?!
I love black and white..such a sleek pairing, especially when you matched it with that denim jacket. Those pants also fit your perfectly, I'm jealous that you have a perfect pair of black pants!
ReplyDelete@Elle - Thank you so much! Often times the outfits I don't particularly love turn out to be the ones others appreciate. I'm not sure what that means, but I'm always in the minority :)
ReplyDelete@Lilly's Style, @kileen, @GorJess Fashion For Less - Thank you :)
@Tara - HAHAHA Are you sure we're not long-lost sisters?! Ogling and drooling over athletes is my idea of a fab afternoon. One day, I promise :)
@featherfactor - It took me awhile to find these black pants, so don't give up!
I have been looking for a skinny black scarf/sash like that for a while now (you'd think it wouldn't be that hard!) I'm at the point where I think I might just sew one for myself. Do you know what kind of fabric yours is made out of? Silk maybe? :) Very cute outfit. :)
ReplyDeletei love this outfit.. you look so parisian chic and the chanel doesn't hurt either ;p
ReplyDelete@Bethany - My black sash actually came with a dress -- so maybe it is hard to find after all :) I'm pretty sure mine is polyester, it attracts static like crazy.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a chic outfit! I mean, I know I always say that, but your outfits are always so chic. Come style me someday?? ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
