Petite Fashion Challenge #7: The Little Black Dress
Thursday, April 28, 2011
Hosted by Jessy @ The Little Dust Princess, Petite Fashion Challenge #7: The Little Black Dress has us adding a pop of color to our little black dress to change up the look.
I own one LBD, one I bought ages ago. My tastes have somewhat changed, so the dress has been sitting in my closet collecting dust. It's on on the casual side, so instead of forcing it to be something it's not (dressy), I styled it as if I'm on an island getaway. One that I wish I'm at now, instead of on a rooftop parking lot. At least the breeze felt nice?
(I have a feeling a lot of other participants will be wearing their Amrita Singh jewelry from the recent sales, so hopefully I changed it up enough!)

That necklace is totally awesome!
ReplyDeleteOooo, another Amrita Singh! Love! Matching color scarf on the Chanel! Great idea. Oh, seems like you had the same problem as I did taking pictures. Was it windy today?! But it made your dress look so sexy!
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been crazy lately. I had to retake my pictures 3 times. Love your necklace, Cee! I also love the way you "styled" your scarf.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, $250 necklace?! Baller! Looks totally awesome with this dress!
ReplyDeleteCee, this is such a pretty and unique (although lots of us ordered AS I don't think anyone else has that necklace!) look. I loved that necklace on hautelook. You look so elegant and ...regal. Lol. It's still much more $ on the website even with the mother's day sale I think.
ReplyDeleteCee, you never disappoint! Love your accessorizing! My favorite part of the outfit is how you dressed up your Chanel with that spring scarf. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! That dress is such a fun cut! And that necklace! Ah! Does wonderful things for the whole look.
ReplyDeleteI just posted on Vicky's thinking the Amrita Singh sale was over, but just saw it is not...hmm...decisions..
the Amrita Singh necklace is super gorgeous and it totally makes this outfit pop. and i still can't get over how similar our outfits are... :)
ReplyDeletecute & little
O-M-G you look soooooo incredibly beautiful here! I think my jaw literally dropped - the neckline shows off your shoulders beautifully and I love that you dressed up CoCo to match your necklace. Seriously, this is perfection.
ReplyDeleteYou are HAWT!!!!!! Holy cow lady you are smoking in this! The necklace is absolutely gorgeous and I just love the movement of the dress!
ReplyDeleteOk, a lot of the bloggers I follow do the Petite Fashion Challenge, and I'm sorry to all the other ladies because YOUR DRESS IS THE BEST ONE!!!!!!! Holy wow, that's one great LBD. And I'm loving that turquoise necklace. Just awesome. I hope you wear it often.
ReplyDeleteAn island vacation would be wonderful right now! *sigh* I guess my little weekend trip to Destin in a few weeks will have to suffice. lol
ReplyDeleteThat dress is gorgeous!! And I love those wedges!

Great look! The necklace is fab...the bag is fab...and the way that dress moves in the breeze is very romantic. Now I want to take an island getaway too!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful dress! Love how it flows... It could totally take you to your island getaway. And how fab is your necklace?!? :)
ReplyDeleteThat necklace is perfect on LBD's and yours fits you nicely! (even if it's old, it's still new to me since I've never seen it, haha). I didn't even think it was casual until I read your comments. (of all the Amrita Singh necklaces I've been seeing on the blogs, I still love the Amrita necklaces on you the best ;)
ReplyDeleteYour dress and necklace are so pretty--and I know you mentioned that your dress isn't dressy, but I think I would totally wear your outfit styled as is to a wedding.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the nice compliments! :)
ReplyDelete@Vicky - It always feel forever windy up on the rooftop. I suppose it's due to the higher altitude? I'm always worried about my camera possibly being knocked over by the wind... I really do need to mix up my locations more.
@Bethany - Lol! I wish I was a baller! I bought the necklace on sale... around ~$40? AS is currently having a huge sale on her website right now. There's a 40-50% off code floating around if you're interested!
@Tiffany - I wish I can say I have a trip planned, little or not :) Have an amazing time in Destin!
@questforfashionsense - Now that you mention it, I have worn the dress to a wedding in the past. I wish I had a fab necklace like this one to wear back then because the outfit was quite plain!
So glam!!!! Love that this dress shows off your sexy shoulder (haha I am SOOO creepy). My fav of the night! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the dress is the hemline! It's so unique and pretty. The necklace is just beautiful, too. Great job!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, these are the nude wedges you mentioned. Darling!! I'm not sure you need the Pearce...because these pretty much cover it.
ReplyDeleteWhy have you been hiding this dress? It's absolutely stunning and you wear it so well! Love the colorful details you added with the necklace and the scarf. You really blew me away with the scarf on your Chanel...so novel! =)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I like the one-shoulder spaghetti strap. That necklace is a beaut!
ReplyDeleteJen Hemming and Hawing Again
i love how you paired the necklace with it! it's gorgeous with the neckline of the dress
ReplyDeletewhoa someone looks HOT!! I can't believe you've been letting the dress just sit in your closet! The addition of the necklace makes it looks more formal, and not casual looking at all imo!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I missed out on all the Amrita Singh sales....everyone looks great in the jewelery!
-lor
wow, i love how you paired all the pieces together--simply perfect!!
ReplyDeleteI love your necklace! That's a creative way to wear the scarf. :)

Hey! My comment isn't here :( I left one last night - must have done something wrong :(
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you look so hot Cee! The necklace is so beautiful!
oops....hahaha I'm blind. I see it now :P Forgive me, I woke up early to watch the royal wedding and my vision is blurry now!
ReplyDeleteOh crap...I was debating on that necklace and decided against it and now seeing it on you- REGRET :( You look freaking awesome Cee....so so elegant!!!
ReplyDeleteOmg...Omg...Cee, the dress and accessories are flirty, elegant and lovely. I love it. I vote you a winner of this challenge, girl!!!!!
ReplyDeletewow, you look like you are going to attend one of the parties kate/william are having! LOVE that necklace so much. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous look!
ReplyDeleteI love the style the whole thing was photographed!
Thank you everyone!
ReplyDelete@Stylepint - Back when I bought it, I wore this dress as is, no sash, no accessorizing. (I'm cringing in horror now just thinking about it). The way it hung on me just wasn't flattering (not sure why I didn't realize it then)... so I think I've always associated my old self with this dress. But you're right, I really should wear it more often!
@Petite in the City - I believe AS is still holding a mother's day sale at her site (Jean wrote a post on it), so definitely check it out if you're interested!
@Elaine A (TOBeautyReviews) - Hehe, no worries! Speaking of the royal wedding, my eyes are STILL gritty from getting up so early. Kate looked absolutely stunning, so it was all worth it!
gorgeous necklace, and you have some beautiful shoulders! yes, i notice a nice set of shoulders, hehe.
ReplyDeleteWell, you still look like a baller Cee, lol, I'm not even sure what that means.. rich & fancy? :) hehe
ReplyDeleteHoly crap cee you've got amazing shoulders and Collarbone hahaha does that sound weird?? Haha I'm just saying you should show off your amazing shoulders everyday hahaha. Your turquoise necklace is gorge!
ReplyDeleteWow another turquoise statement necklace! I love it. Thank you for participating! : )
ReplyDeletep.s. The left side of your blog is cut off for me!
WHOA Cee! You knocked me off my feet. You look absolutely stunning. Like Cinderella going to the ball. And the necklacke adds such a nice touch.
ReplyDeletebtw, I just read your review. I was operating on no electronic devices for a while as I've been too internet addicted over the past few months (ok, years). So THANK YOU so much. I appreciate you taking the time to read my load of fluff. sorry for all the errors. =P
And girrrrl, I lurrrrrrrve the new look of your blog. just Look at all the gorg pieces I've been missing! And I've missed my bloggie buddy :)
@The Little Dust Princess - Uh oh, can I ask what browser and OS you're on? It looks fine on my MAC and PC, but I'm using Firefox for both. Though my screen is 1280px wide, so if yours is anything less than that, I'm hoping there's a horizontal bar at the bottom...
ReplyDelete@Lisa - No need to thank me, I loved your book :) In fact, I think I read through some sections too fast because I was eager to see what happened. I'm going to have to go back and reread it all over again soon. Welcome back to the good ol USA, aka reality :)
i LOVE that necklace and I LOVE that LBD! your outfit is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNice Blog, thanks for sharing
