30 for 30: Pouf

Thursday, March 03, 2011

Nope, I'm not wearing a petticoat underneath the dress. Somehow wearing a fitted sweater caused the skirt to balloon at the bottom. I think this is an interesting look on me and I kind of like it. If the hem is any longer (I'm picturing ballgowns), the poufiness would just swallow me up. Have you tried skirts/dresses in this style? If so, how do you like it?

  1. You look so adorable in that skirt...very girly but cool girly :)
I haven't tried any dresses/skirts in that style but I do love the look!

p.s. I hope you find that lacey top from Target, I bought it just recently so they should have it.

  4. It looks good on you! I think you pull off a slight pouf to your skirt very well. I ordered a puffy skirt off of the AllSaints website but ended up returning because it looked all wrong on me!

  5. I'm really bad about going for volume; sometimes when it just overwhelms my frame. OF COURSE I love your skirt! I think it also works because it poofs at the very end, plus it is a short skirt. I can't help it, I love Carrie's poofy dresses from Sex and the City. Poofy stuff rocks. =0P

  6. @Judy Nguyen - Is it redundant to say that I do too? :)

@Lilly's Style - I just browsed target.com and couldn't find it. I'm hoping the stores will have it!

@Callandra - Yes! Last day is tomorrow. Ahh! Can't wait to go shopping, haha.

@PetiteLittleGirl - Glad you like it. A part of me thinks it might make me look too young. But ehh, I'm still relatively young, so I should wear it while I still can.

@JenlovesBal - Sorry the AllSaints skirt didn't work out. I think length and the pouf radius makes a difference. Keep searching though because there's bound to be one that will fit you.

@Banhannas - Carrie can seriously pull off anything. I remember she wore a poufy dress that hit about mid-calf with heels and she still rocked the look. On me, it would have made me look even shorter!

  7. I like the poufiness! It's all over the mags so you're being very fashion forward :) I think full skirts look good as long as the hem is knee or above. Plus, you have nice, long legs so really you can wear anything!

  8. I love it! How cute! I think that your sweater makes up for the short hemline.

  10. I love how the skirt poofs out, especially since it's combined with the fitted sweater. The proportions just really seem to suit you. And now I feel like I'm channeling Nina Garcia on Project Runway or something...

Good luck making it through your last day. Congrats on almost finishing the challenge :)

  12. I LOVE the skirt on you. You're lucky I can't seem to pull that shape off it makes me look really stubby!

  13. 30x30 almost done huh? I wish I would've caught it in time! Maybe next time. Adorable outfit. Love how the necklace looks over the sweater!

  14. @SewPetiteGal - Ooh thanks for letting me know. I don't mind being fashion forward :)

@Lisa Lisa Lisa, @Tara - I think it's all about proportion too, keeping the top covered and showing off the legs. Or vice versa, which I don't like to wear as much.

    @Michelle - Thank you!

@Lisa - -10 years would make me a teenager again!!! But I'll take that as a compliment :) Any excuse to celebrate with food works for me. There is a nice big piece of yummy cake calling my name. But I'll wait until bf gets home :)

@curls-and-pearls - Stubby was my biggest fear too. Perhaps try it with a shorter skirt? And tights. I think I've gotten too old to wear short skirts without tights.

@May - Yes, definitely join the next time 30x30 rolls around... which should be in at the end of spring.
