Petite Fashion Challenge #6: Dress Up Your Basics
Thursday, March 24, 2011
Hosted by Jess @ Stylepint, Petite Fashion Challenge #6: Dress Up Your Basics has us starting off with jeans and a tee, and dressing it up to show off your personal style with accessories, jewelry, etc.
I took the easy way out and picked a blazer and scarf *chagrined* But, I went out of my comfort zone and wore heels. It's progress, even if I only wore them during this photo shoot. Baby steps, I tell myself.
Silly as it seems, I couldn't bring myself to poke holes in my beloved theory blazer, so I taped the flower pins on. Yes, another ghetto fabulous solution to my fashion dilemma. Knowing me though, instead of a holey lapel (since I wouldn't have gotten the placements right in one try), tape seems like a great decision now.

lol, at least it doesn't look it.
ReplyDeleteLol about the tape!
ReplyDeleteSo proud of you for wearing the heels! And those are hot!!
You did a wonderful job with this challenge!!
Oh my goodness. I love what you did with the flowers on the blazer. LOVE
ReplyDeletework it girl! thumbs up to the cuffed jeans look.
ReplyDeleteTwo flower pins?? Hot pink heels?? OMG...this is amazing. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand the holes in the lapel thing. My white Theory blazer has icky pin holes from an old, slightly tarnished brooch I poked through it recently. :P
Totally loving those heels, Cee! So gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHow long did the tape last? I wouldn't poke holes on a Theory blazer either, that makes the two of us.
LOL on your title. We are on PFC #6, Cee, not #5. Hehe.
This is so cute. I love how you dressed up your blazer. The fit is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love the accent of magenta in both your flower and your shoes! Wonderfully coordinated without being overly matchy-matchy :)
ReplyDeleteUgh I wish I knew to post my challenge ON March 24th, not by it! I need to read better.
Well, you DEFINITELY brightened my day! I do believe this is a favorite =)) Mmmmhm, for sure.
ReplyDeleteGasp I love the hot pink flower pin and shoes...you never fail to surprise me with your unique accessorizing, Cee! I don't take as much care with my Theory blazers...I pin away at the lapel but I haven't seen any lasting holes yet!
ReplyDeleteMy FAVORITE outfit of the night! I love it! The outfit is so unexpected but it is so you. You did great :)
ReplyDeleteLOVe your shoes - I may need to hunt them down! Are you wearing your normal size in them?
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like poking holes with your brooches, you can remove the pin and replace them with the little magnet pin backs. You can probably get them at Hobby Lobby or Michaels for keep and they won't leave a mark on your jackets. I have some magnet name badges that I need to wear for shows sometimes and they really hold tight!
I agree with PetiteLittleGirl! Your is my fav outfit of the challenge. You really took actual basics and dressed them up so simply yet so well. I know what you mean about poking holes into things. I've been wanting to put a flower pin on my Longchamp tote and can't bring myself to do even that, lol. But I love how you kept and wore both of those flower pins. The pink heels are HOT and the subtle pattern on the scarf pulls it altogether. And love the strut too ;)
ReplyDelete:) Love the shoes!!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying seeing everyone's spin on this challenge. I am loving your spin especially with the bright pink.

Cee is in heels!! And you look hot :) You did much better with this challenge than I did - I love the duo of flower pins with the blazer and scarf!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I LLOOOOOOOVE the shoes! I need coloured shoes!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors! Really really nice on the eyes!

I'm also amazed with your creativity! 2 flower pins! who would have thought of that? and taped on! I've never tried tapping on stuff (is it sturdy?) This is my favorite look so far in this challenge :)
ReplyDeleteaww smart thinking.. tape :D
ReplyDeletei'm loving the splashes of pink, though i'm not a fan of pink it look really good on you and the scarf just adds to the outfit
i love the ruched sleeves on the blazer
great job ^^
Love how you styled your outfit with the lovely pops of color and the blazer.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE how you style the whole outfit from double floral pins, a scarf, a blazer to those heels. Gorgeous and stylish. These photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow! Love the bright pops of color from the pins to the shoes! You got the look of a fashion editor in that last photo! =)
ReplyDeleteThose heels are hot! Love!
ReplyDeleteNice heels! And 2 flower pins?! I'm going to have to try that with my blazer! Love your clutch, its shimmery like mine tote!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your outfit, I like that you incorporated TWO flower pins, a girl after my own heart! And for the amount of pink in your outfit I give two thumbs up. :)
ReplyDeletep.s. yes totally get the H&M dresses, I hope they work out for you because then we can be dress twins! But definitely try them on, I think you may need a size down. :D
OMG I love this Cee - the walking post is my FAV! You should wear heels more often, it totally makes your legs look even longer! LOL I wouldn't want to poke holes either, I probably would've tried those aligator clips or something. I love the colour of that scarf too.
ReplyDeleteI love the different white tee/blazer combos! Yours is styled so perfectly with the pink!
ReplyDeleteI looove your outfit Cee! Definitely one of my favs with just the right touch of color and pop. Those shoes go perfectly with your flower pin, and the scarf ties everything together with elements of both the pink and white. So well coordinated... bravo!
ReplyDeletelove those flowers! you look so sophisticated. great job on the challenge.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this outfit! I've been wearing the 'double flower pin' look lately, too. Why wear one, when you can wear two? Gorgeous! xoxo kiki
ReplyDeleteLove the pop of colour with the pinks. Really interesting combination of the check scarf with floral pins, really adds texture to the look!
ReplyDeleteUm, yeah, I'm pretty much in love. I love how you did it. It's so polished, and something I wouldn't have thought of, but something I'd definitely wear!
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers and the pop of color.

Mae Lu @ thereafterish.!
Beautiful! I love your ghetto fabulous flower pin attachment. I probably would do the same. The heels dress this up nicely. And, the scarf draped underneath your blazer is genius.
ReplyDeleteJen Hemming and Hawing Again
This is my fav outfit of all! So unique but everything goes so well together! Love the gold clutch too!
ReplyDeleteOMG LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!....THE SHOES, THE BLAZER, THE COLORS, THE FLOWERS!
ReplyDeleteBTW...I just ordered like 4 scarves from your eBay seller...including the one you have, the one PAG has, and then the pink and purple versions as well. I love scarves, and silky/polyester stuff! =D
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for their kind and positive words :) I couldn't resist the walking picture after seeing it on street blogs. I may have to wear heels more often just to take more pictures like that, haha.
ReplyDelete@Vicky - HAHA I must've poked my brain with that pin. Thanks for catching the error! The flowers fell off one time each over about a 15 min time span. I had to concentrate and not move too fast though lol.
@Lisa - respect the shoes - Yep, the shoes run TTS for me and I have semi-wide feet. It was tight in the toebox at first, but I used the stuffed sock trick for a day and everything fits perfectly now.
I've never heard of magnet pin backs! Will have to check them out now at my local stores. Thanks Lisa!
@Olyvia - Hehe, sturdy enough to take pictures in, but not to last a whole day.
That's a great colour palette, love it!

ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I really don't know you wouldn't look good in long dresses! The one I bought Isn't floor length, it hits a around my calf and is very flowy at the bottom.

Oh hello hot pink with a snazzy gold clutch! This is a totally chic but such a well dressed up outfit. LOL to the taping of the flower pins .. how on earth did you manage that? It looks so well placed. =0P You and Annie are really making me want to search madly for that blazer. Looks so awesome on ya.
ReplyDeleteForgot to ask you if you kept all three pins or just the two pictured here? And what you decided with the Loft skirt? This outfit is so lively! Looks like you had an extra spring in your step with the heels! Stupid me forgot to try the ruffle dress while I was at loft. :(
ReplyDeleteYou taped the pins on...hilarious! This outfit is amazing...LOVE the double flower pins...and the pink shoes are insanely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteyou look so great here, lovely pink items!

Gorgeous look. I love it. Please if you can let me know what loft style jeans are this? and what size did you got (regular or petite? I don't usually like the cuffed jeans but this one I love it!
ReplyDelete@Banhannas - Packaging tape ftw :D
ReplyDelete@Jarucha - I'm keeping all 3 pins for now :) Hopefully it'll go on sale soon and I can get a price adjustment. Same with the floral skirt in 0P. I think it should look ok without tailoring if I tuck tops in. Ahhh, I'm so indecisive lol.
@Claud - I actually bought these jeans awhile ago in size 00R. I found 00P to fit about the same but the length is shorter. I'm almost 5'5" if that helps. Let me know if you're able to hunt them down!
cee, i love the hot pink pin, shoes and scarf! the "in motion" picture shows the cuteness of the outfit really well.
ReplyDeleteThe Classy Confidante
Loving everything about your outfit; the color, the heels, the blazer, the cut, the fit and all together it's simply beautiful.

Bre
