Achromatic
Wednesday, September 21, 2011The color palette today is all neutrals, from shades of beige to gray to black. To keep the outfit from being bland, I mixed in various textures: sequins, crochet, and snakeskin. All could be statement pieces on their own, but surprisingly worked well together in an outfit.
What are some of your favorite combination of textures?
sunglasses: Old Navy round metal-hardware (similar)
necklace: Merona ribbon necklace (the real deal; Etsy)
blazer: Express luxury stretch 1-button (similar; similar)

bracelets: Forever 21 rope/cable bangle (the real deal; similar);
Forever 21 rhinestone snake chain (sold here; similar)
bag: Chanel M/L flap (similar)
shoes: Zara court shoe with snakeskin toe (sold here; similar; peep-toe)

You look like one of those envy-worthy J. Crew ads. In other words, AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteAh, LOVE this outfit, Cee! It looks so romantic. The colors are so soft and pretty.
ReplyDeleteI need to find me a crochet skirt...or dress :)
Love the crochet skirt and blazer. The combo of your textures are great! I like mixing spots stripes and florals :)
ReplyDeleteThe textures work perfecty. You look like you're hanging on to summer with that outfit!
ReplyDeleteI freaking love this whole look from head to toe!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to spice up a neutral outfit by adding those different textures. I always love how you wear that dress as a skirt, you're getting tons of wear out of it! I don't know what my favorite combination is, but it has to include lace!
ReplyDeleteWow, Cee. I'm loving that Crochet dress more and more on you. I'm so glad you kept it. :) My favorite mix of textures are silk and wool. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, these pieces are beautifully put together into one great outfit!
ReplyDeletethe styling just doesn't stop w/this dress! way to go!
ReplyDeleteI love this color combination....I am still loving this dress and all the ways you have styled it! The number of times you wore it has gone beyond its pricey cost!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see you remix this dress in yet another fab outfit, I die a little bit inside. The length on mine against my legs makes it impossible to incorporate with outfits other than the plain dress itself, and even then I've received comments that it looks long. Darn the impossible to hem scalloped bottom. The gray blazer and Zara shoes go so nicely here with the dress lining. I've seen so many stylish Zara shoes lately (gosh I love those two toned court shoes on Blaire Eadie as well) I would die if they'd offer sz 5 online!
ReplyDeleteI just said "die" twice in one comment...oops! Don't mean to be so morbid, I'm just too envious over here.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is one of my favorite items of yours...it works so well in so many different ways!
ReplyDeleteI love how keeping to one color family doesn't make the sequins, lace, and animal print look over the top! You look great! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! That's all. ;o)
ReplyDeletei love this neutral look and the mix of textures really draws attention to all the details. great job, Cee!
ReplyDeletecute & little

Even though I bought a F21 knockoff version, I still lust after that Ann Taylor dress. Every time you wear it I start scouring the internet for something similar...and yet, do I really need two crochet lace dresses? Incidentally...I've been craving a pair of flats recently, like penny loafers or boat shoes. Slowly, I am starting to dress more like you.
ReplyDeleteGreat skirt! Nice outfit!

LOVE this! What a perfect way to add some spice to the outfit - mixing all those textures. Pulled off perfectly! XO
ReplyDeleteI love your shoes Cee!! and yes i got the CL pumps but I shipped it back today. I wasnt in love with it so I didnt want to keep it. Im just going to wait until I can find CL simple 100 in size 36.
ReplyDeleteDo you always look so good when you go to work? gosh I can say that I actually look decent 2 out of 5 work days haha
nothing bland about this outfit at all! One of my favorite creations of yours! I'm loving neutral grey/cream/black/khaki combo's lately...I'm actually thinking of turning my whole wardrobe with just these colors so that I don't have to stress too much of what to wear every morning and not look like a clown, haha :)
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic!!! I love your skirt :)
ReplyDeleteY'all are too kind. Thank you for all the feedback :)
ReplyDelete@easy petite looks - You betcha, though my fall wardrobe is screaming to be worn ;)
@Jenn, @Vicky, @Jarucha - I feel like this dress is much easier worn as a skirt than as a dress like it's supposed to be. Perhaps I should've saved money and bought the skirt version instead, huh? :)
@PetiteAsianGirl - Oh Jean, isn't it funny we always want what we can't have? I still wish mine is longer so I don't have to be paranoid when wearing it to work. Blair is such a trend-setter. After she debuted those two-toned Zara heels, I started seeing them everywhere on the blogsphere. That should've turned me off, but instead I find myself lusting after them too.
@littlenashua - Lol, you're asking the wrong girl. I have way too many lace/crochet items, but yet I still can't seem to stay away. As long as you feel like both would get plenty of wears, I don't see why not? I've yet to venture out into penny loafers, so I may end up dressing like YOU :)
@simplyvonne - Ahh what a bummer! So sorry to hear the CLs not working out. Not even a twitpic before you sent it back? :( Believe me, I dress "down" a lot at work -- only those outfits aren't blog-worthy so they don't make the cut, hahaha.
@Olyvia - If you do, you wouldn't need to overhaul your wardrobe for a long time. Those colors are timeless and chic!
I love the lace skirt with the blazer and the croc shoes. Such a fantastic combination of textures here...
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it's impossible for you to do boring, even with an all neutral outfit :)
I'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
