Day 1/30: Neon + Neutrals

Sunday, June 12, 2011

Ok, so I'm a day early with the spring edition of 30x30, but I'm kicking off this round by doubling up with the next Bloggers Do it Better challenge. Yay for killing two birds with one stone :)

Today's preppy casual look is definitely me. Tee, scarf, and FLIP FLOPS --- not a fashion faux-pas in my book ;) I get funny looks sometimes when wearing a scarf in hot weather. It almost makes me want to wear a sign, "for decorative purposes only," but I'm sure that will just garner even more puzzled looks.

tee: H&M (similar)
belt: Old Navy (similar)
skirt: Forever 21 (currently sold here)
flats: Old Navy (currently sold here)

  3. Great start to the challenge Cee! I love that skirt. I went to go look online and it looks much more pink but on you it looks bright red. Regardless, it's very pretty!

p.s. I'm all for scarves in the summer! lol

  8. Sigh, I love that skirt on you, Cee. I know what you mean about how some people think garments should be purely functional (ie. no scarves in warmer weather). I get some grief for wearing belts that serve no purpose except to look nice!

  9. You pulled the casual but chic look here. I know what you mean about the scarf. I like how you tied it here though, nothing much touching your neck. Lovely skirt!

  10. I love ALL your scarf looks and I've been trying to think of more ways to make a scarf into a shirt - I'll keep you posted ;) Can I just tell you that the striped belt + red skirt + tee is so perfect? LOVE!

  17. The best part is the little details like how the color of belt correspond to the scarf and the untucking of the white tee. Its a great way to perk up a casual outfit. I didn't comment in the last post but I am so happy you're doing the 30 for 30 challenge again. Especially look forward to seeing how you remix the lace dresses. In love with both!!!

  18. Thank you all for the kind words :)

@b_ra - Yup, a very orange-y red. I think it's hard to capture this bright color, but hopefully I'll be wearing the skirt enough the next month, so there should be lots of photos to come :D

@PetiteAsianGirl - Umm... wanna trade bodies for a day?! I would love to fit in the AT lace dress as well as you, Jean :)

@SewPetiteGal - Yes, please let me know of more wears to wear a scarf as a top! I have a feeling I'll be running out of outfit ideas and technically the scarf is an "accessory", lol.

@Anne - High five! Finally another flip flop lover :)

@Susan - I don't know much about Germans, but I bet y'all are so chic! Being so close to France and all :) Us Americans? Not so much, haha.

@AubreyOhDang! - It makes mine all sticky and sweaty :( Kinda gross, haha.

  28. The scarf helps make the outfit!!! I love it with that super bright skirt (you really make me want something in orange now).

I wore a scarf the other day and it was purely for decoration. It was no big deal in the office, but made me warm when I went outside, lol. I might just tie one on my bag next time.
