Petite Fashion Challenge #5: Brighten Up Your Winter Blahs!
Tuesday, January 25, 2011
Hosted by Cynthia @ Shorty Stories, Petite Fashion Challenge #5: Brighten Up Your Winter Blahs! has us creating a sophisticated work appropriate look that has no more than one dark piece (it can be a skirt, pants, a blazer, sweater etc...) excluding shoes, accessories and hosiery.
My one dark piece is my theory blazer, which I can't get enough of. And to brighten things up, I paired it with a fuchsia top and neutral colored pants and coat. In real life, I don't get many chances to dress up for the office, so this PFC was fun and quite challenging.

i LOVE the color of this LOFT shell. it's the perfect punch of brightness and it looks great when paired with neutrals and dark colors. you did great with this challenge!
ReplyDeletecute and little
come join the Color Brigade!
I love your outfit...dare I say it: My favorite so far? I so wish I had the height to pull off those pants but I think pants just don't love my proportions...which is why I am all over your outfit today! You and Anh from 9-to-5 Chic are now my two favorite pants inspirations (I know that sounds weird, don't hold it against me)
ReplyDeleteI love that LOFT shell...I so wanted to buy it, but I already own several tops so close to that color so I passed. You look great!

You are wearing so many of my favorite pieces! (Of your closet, I WISH I had them in mine). Amazing job!
ReplyDeleteThat camel color is delicious! So chic and clean looking! In fact, I like your whole color palette here...hmmm....I must buy more camel. =P
ReplyDeleteI love the camel coat and the burst of red was really needed to make this outfit's wow-factor. Great job :D

Great outfit Cee! I love the red. Styled so perfectly!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite outfit of the night! I just picked up the red top today at LOFT. I love it. You styled it really well. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteOh LOVE! This looks so sophisticated and elegant! I always love your ensembles, but I think this is one of my favorites. Is the blazer navy or black?
ReplyDeleteThe shell looks red-orange in the photo and it coordinates so well with the navy and camel. A perfect pop of color. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis has to be one of my favorite outfits of all the entries! Such a classic color combination: very chic! Gorgeous scarf!
ReplyDeleteThat sash! I want to see more of it!
ReplyDeleteI just came home from LOFT too and saw your red top. I hemmed and hawed but passed, ended up getting a similar top with multiple colors. You styled this really nicely. Perfect for work!
I love this whole look! The navy, the camel, the bright colored shell. Absolutely gorgeous, Cee.
ReplyDeleteNavy and camel...one of my favorite color combos. Very Burberry.
ReplyDeleteThe camel coat and the top are my favourites! No wait, I like the top more...it really, really makes a difference to one's typical winter wardrobe!
ReplyDeletelove your red top, it really makes the outfit. i love theory's blazers. they fit so well. xo
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I used to think camel was a hard neutral to match! Still so sad I missed out on that top in my size... it always looks so great on you!
ReplyDeleteoh man i love the red top, gives a pop of colour to the outfit ^^ and about my bag i honestly have no clue > - <
ReplyDeletei should really give it a good look one day and do some research, cause you see i got it from my mom and almost half of the good things i own, i have no idea where it came from @ - @
Gorgeous!!! I love your LOFT top with the camel/khaki pants and coat!

ReplyDeleteLove this! The bright red top looks amazing with the dark blazer and tan/camel pants! What a great color combo:)
ReplyDeleteThe red top gives a pop of color and pairs beautifully with your pants. Nice selections - Bravo!
ReplyDeleteOh Cee, you manage to do it again! Love this ensemble and how the red just POPS and adds so much life!!!!! :) Good job!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTheory blazer- LOVE.
Guess what????????!!!!! I, too, finally got my hands on this shirt!
ReplyDeleteOH. MY. GOSH. I love this outfit!!! I'm now inspired to look for a red cami! Excellent work, my friend. xoxo Kiki
ReplyDeleteLove the blazer! And I can't get enough of that top. Great office look girl!
ReplyDelete@kileen, @Tara, @The Little Dust Princess, @JenlovesBal, @Em, @Sisters Sincere, @Kristen, @cryskay, @Michelle, @fashionforteens, @Nelah, @ReallyPetite, @Ramsey - Thanks :)
ReplyDelete@Elle - Anh definitely has longer legs than me (I went and did the legs/torso ratio for myself and I'm average). She definitely pulls off the look so well!
@curls-and-pearls - Haha, now that you mention it, I do wear these pieces a lot. Just never together until now!
@Alterations Needed - Do it! Evil enabler in me is egging you on ;)
@PetiteLittleGirl - Can not wait to see the red top on you!
@SewPetiteGal - Horrible lighting, but the blazer is navy. I figured it was close enough to be wearing black pumps with it :D
@PetiteAsianGirl - Oh you'll definitely be seeing more of this sash lol. It's becoming one of my favorites!
@Mama Marshmallow - I hadn't been thinking Burberry when I put this outfit together, but you are right!
@CynthiaC - I bought the top originally to be worn in the spring/summer, but now I'm glad I'm finding more uses for it all year round.
@PetiteXXS - I say keep looking, it might still be around somewhere. I'll be on the lookout for you as well :)
@betty; - Ah, vintage items are the best. Can't wait to see all your other pieces!
@Lisa - I felt SO awkward when taking these photos. Not to mention my facial expression is even more awkward. Glad that's cropped out!
@AubreyOhDang! - I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! I know you've been searching high and low for it. Congrats!
@Kiki - Definitely try your LOFT stores' sales sections. They could still be lurking around :)
Sorry I'm late to the commenting party! (I go to bed around the time the posts go live and I don't have time to read/comment until the evening). This is a great outfit! I am suddenly craving some light colored trousers like these, and I love the pairing with the bright LOFT top.
ReplyDeleteLove it! That Express coat is the perfect camel color.
ReplyDeleteGee, Cee, I'm totally copying your outfit! I have looked at it for 15 minutes now, trying to recreate this in my imagination using what I have in my closet. :) Simply chic! Well done. That red top does get a lot of love from you. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally thought these were catalog pics! Very professional-looking. Not in a stuffy way. That blouse is pretty, pretty and I love the camel/tan/whatever you call it. Where's your head? Are you sure you're petite? :D
ReplyDeleteJen Hemming and Hawing Again
love it! looks great :)
ReplyDeleteThat blazer is so pretty and so classic! Well done with the challenge!
ReplyDeleteStay Happy and Positive!

@littlenashua - I love being an enabler, if unintentionally :P Totally keep your eyes out for some camel colored pants. You won't regret it!
ReplyDelete@Callandra, @Michelle, @20 York Street - Thanks!
@Vicky - Copy away! I can't wait to see what you come up with :)
@Jen HaHA - Way too shy to be showing my face in public :D Maybe one day. Does 5'4" count as being petite? That's what I tell people (rounding down the not-quite-another-inch). Petite tops fit well on me but I usually have to go with regular sizes for the bottoms.
omg, how in the world did I miss this outfit? I LOVE LOVE LOVE it Cee. You look AMAZING! This is one of my fav outfits.
ReplyDeleteSo many great entries in one fashion challenge. Yours is definitely another favorite of mine. I definitely love the ensemble! The red is gorgeous and I love the contrast of the blazer to tame it. With the coat, and it still looks just as gorgeous, professional and eye catching. Really really nice entry. LOOOVE.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
