Cocoon-ed

Friday, December 10, 2010

I'm lucky enough to work in a casual environment. Pretty much anything goes, except for shorts. On occasion I would even wear this ragged-y hoodie sweatshirt that I've had since forever... and still blend in with my coworkers lol.

When I saw this Forever 21 Modern Oblong Cardigan in grey, size S I figured it's time for a more "fashionable" sweatshirt, if there is such a thing. I wasn't sure how it would look on my frame since it already looks kinda big on the model. Once I tried it on though, I immediately loved it! It's not made of super thick sweatshirt material, so I hope it holds up in the wash. The back hung too low on me and was not really flattering, so I solved this problem by tucking in part of the hem into my jeans. I think it looks much better this way. The rest of the outfit was kept casual, or as my boyfriend likes to call it, my soulja girl look, in reference to wearing Uggs under jeans.

tee: Old Navy
belt: Abercrombie & Fitch
jeans: Express
boots: Ugg (currently sold here)

  1. The cardigan looks so comfy. It feels good sometimes to be in jeans and sweatshirt especially this time of the year. I do not feel like dressing up in the morning since it's freezing outside

Interesting that it's made out of sweatshirt material.

  4. I work in a casual environment too. Pros and con - pros because when I want to be comfy I can. Cons because it makes me lazy to find a decent outfit :P

That cardi is sooo cool! That's perfect for this weather!

  5. I am so jealous of your casual work environment. And that shrug is a great alternative to a sweatshirt - great find!

  6. The cardigan looks so cozy and it looks way better tucked in. I remember trying on something like that before, but it just swallowed me up. But you pull it so well! =)

  8. Ummm, looks comfy and warm! I wear my uggs under jeans too (which you don't usually see around here). I had to read your post to tell that you tucked the back of the sweatshirt into your pants, it looks like that's just the way it hangs.

  10. So cozy and comfy! Definitely a much more fashionable way to wear a sweatshirt :) Do I spy a comfy chair in your office bathroom? That's so awesome LOL.

  11. PetiteLittleGirl - Me too! It's hard enough to get out of a warm bed in the mornings, let alone thinking of dressing nicely.

AubreyOhDang! - Is she the one from this current season? The one with the tiny waist? I haven't been following the last few seasons, but heard about her. She's so pretty.

Kaleido Mind - I don't know about chic, but definitely comfortable ;)

curls-and-pearls - I wonder if I ever switch jobs in the future if I could get used to a dressier environment. Watch that be a dealbreaker lol.

Kristen - Like curls-and-pearls said, there are certain cons to working in a casual environment haha.

Stylepint - I felt so tiny in the sweater, but it's so comfy I don't care =P

Meredith - Uggs are the best! I'd wear them year round if I could.

Callandra - Yup, on the model it looks to be hanging below her bottom. Definitely kind of long unless it's tucked in.

Really Petite - Can't wait until your reveal on the J.Crew skirt! Hope you love it as much as I do =)

SewPetiteGal - Haha, there are two comfy chairs and a comfy couch! I'm always tempted to go in and take naps lol

  14. That cardigan DOES look super comfortable, and I've worn uggs under jeans too. :) And smart move tucking part of the cardi in, I wouldn't have thought of that!

  16. I also noticed the ANTM winner! Nicole Linkletter... she was from one of the earlier seasons, and one of the few where I thought Tyra picked the right winner. Oh and you look super comfy too :) I recently picked up the LOFT cocoon sweater on sale, and even though it's cozy it's a little scratchy so I'm still on the fence about it.
