Draping
Tuesday, January 31, 2012I adore draped garments for their flowy movement and the way tucks and folds transform an otherwise simple silhouette. A tulip skirt and a grecian dress later, now I can finally add this draped blazer to my wardrobe. I've been wanting it since last summer, but couldn't find the gray version in my size anywhere. I think I was late to the game, thinking stores hadn't received shipment yet when they were already out on shelves. Many people have tried helping me find it (too many to name, but thank you all!) to no avail. I then turned to stalking eBay, but nada. When Annie (thank you again!) offered to sell me hers, I jumped for joy even though it's a size smaller than what I had been looking for, lol.
For the most part, I'd say the blazer ended up working out. The shoulders feel fine on me but looks a bit tight in pictures. The sleeves hit me around the wrist bone, but it's not a big deal because I roll them up. Next on the to-hunt list, H&M riding boots that showed up on their website but was nowhere to be found in stores.

You did a good job on pairing draped jacket. I like that color combination too!
ReplyDeleteLove the pretty drape of the blazer...fun and unique!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! The draping adds a nice vertical line. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving draped sweaters and jackets and yours look fab.
ReplyDeleteHope H&M will hurry up and launch their online shopping, can't wait. There are so many amazing pieces I'm seeing on bloggers but an hour away to H&M seems too far sometimes :)
Lilly, have you tried Suddenlee? Their fee (includes next day shipping) are pretty reasonable. I've used it for Zara items in the past with great service.

I have a jacket that drapes from Eddie Bauer that I wore yesterday as well for the Winter Challenge. It's a less structured jacket than a formal blazer which I like for more casual days.

Even though I already own a gray blazer, this one is different enough that I couldn't pass up. A girl can never have enough blazers ;)
DeleteLove this outfit! You always make simple pieces look so special, I love it!
ReplyDeleteGlad that the blazer worked out for you! Another credit to the blogging community :) I see sooo many items on the H&M website that never come to my store. I can't wait until their online shopping is up and running!
ReplyDeletei was in H&M the other day. I saw a lone gray draped blazer. I wasn't sure if it was this same one or mb they came out with another version. It'd be great if it was another version bc then i hope to pick one up. hahhahaha.

Oh, I don't think it looks too tight, at all. And it never ceases to amaze me how classy you can make a simple pair of jeans look :)
