Do you Smashion?

Monday, January 31, 2011

A few weeks back, I was contacted by Vanessa @ Smashion, introducing me to a site combining both marketplace with a sense of community. Users are able to buy and sell new or lightly worn clothing without paying a fee. Yup, no more selling on eBay or Bonanza for me! Other cool features include browsing other people's styles in the Gallery, or interacting with other users in the Forum. I've been thinking of setting up a blog shop to make space in my closet. I haven't had time to get around to it, but Smashion seems pretty easy to use and will be at the top of my list.

She also asked if I'd be interested in being interviewed for the Smashion Lounge. Of course I said yes. I felt like a quasi-celebrity, hehe. So if you're interested, check out my 2 minutes of fame.

  1. I just recently heard about Smashion too, received an email from Vanessa (which reminds me I haven't emailed her back yet, shame on me). It definitely looks like a cool site. Off to read your interview now :)

  6. I feel the exact same way you do about J. Crew catalogs. Although I do chastise them on occasion for some of their more bizarre fashion spreads, I keep old copies on hand for my weekly closet shopping expedition. In fact, that is what I did on Sunday afternoon - I sat down on my bed with every catalog from August 2010 through the present and scribbled down ideas for outfits, then went into my closet and tried them on. My fiance thinks I am insane.

    Last week we got the January catalog and I found it in the recycle bin. I sat him down and explained very seriously that we DO NOT THROW J.CREW CATALOGS AWAY. Ever.

    About 8 years ago, when I was a 1st year teacher with no disposable income, I kept a stack of J. Crew catalogs as outfit inspirations. Unfortunately back then it was hard to pull of their looks when I only owned like 5 pairs of pants and 4 shirts.

    I can't believe how far I've come.

    Oh, and you need to get a pair of Dansko clogs if you want comfy shoes that add 2.25" to your height. They are the most amazingly comfy shoes ever. Stylish? No. But you'll love them.

  7. They contacted me but I never had a chance to check out their site! So it's kind of like AN's marketplace!

    Cool! :) Thanks for sharing!

    @PetiteLittleGirl - No problem!

    @Elle - Haha, Vanessa said no cropped heads :( So I turned my head sideways instead. Can't wait to read your responses soon!

    @Lisa - *jumps up and down* Finally I've met someone who's a Rafa fan!!! Bf isn't a tennis fan, but is a Fed lover. My whole family are Fedophiles (love this nickname from message boards, hehe). So I'm always sticking out like a sore thumb cheering on Rafa. Yay! You just made my day :)

    @Sands - Nice! Off to read yours now :)

    @littlenashua - Hahaha, oh boys :) It sounds like something I'd tell my bf.

    @Really Petite - Yup, that's a good way to describe it. Similar to AN's marketplace.

    @kimmie - Haha, I didn't think my face would garner that much attention ;)

    @SewPetiteGal - You're too sweet!

  14. Ooo I loved learning more about you! That reminds me, I definitely should request a J.Crew catalog for more outfit inspiration ideas (not sure why I never got any of their catalogs!). Smashion contacted me too but I haven't had time to complete the interview questions yet.
