To the Maxi
Thursday, August 02, 2012I lied about this dress in my fitting room post. A few strategic pulls here and some folds there, and I'm able to secure the maxi to fall about an inch off the ground. No need to shell out money for alterations after all. Yay! That made my day.
This is the first long dress I own where I have to watch my steps. Apparently the narrower bottom doesn't accommodate my unbeknownst-to-me large strides. Now I know why I arrive at appointments early.
Have a great Thursday, everyone!

Initially I was going to leave the house without the flower pin, but then I saw myself in the mirror and thought, "hmmm... I look like a bumble bee," lol. The flower pin and ring sort of goes along with the theme ;)
DeleteLove, love, love!!! All I will say about this outfit!!!

I adore big and wide stripes of this maxi dress, and that bright flower adds a fun pop of color. Still havent worn my first maxi dress that i purchased since March. Have been saving it for a Hawaii trip.
ReplyDeleteA maxi will serve you well on your upcoming trip. Safe travels, Nelah!
DeleteBrilliant idea! I never would have thought to use the belt to keep the dress up off the ground. Smart thinking!

This maxi actually came with a drawstring waist tie, but I sort of just hid that behind the yellow belt this time :)
Deletelol, nothing like a narrow skirt at the bottom to let you know how wide your strides are. Happened to me the other day I felt like a little barbie doll walking oh so daintly. Love the dress!
ReplyDeleteHAHA @ your dainty barbie description! That's exactly what I felt like too :)
DeleteI love the styling you did with this dress...the flower is just awesome! I bought my first maxi skirt in maternity form, because it just seemed super comfortable, and at this point, I'm more concerned about comfort than vanity, and I'm kind of surprised at how much I love it. I don't have a problem stepping on it, but I do CONSTANTLY roll over it with my chair in the office, so that's always fun :)
ReplyDeleteHehehe, anything to make the workday more fun is good by me :)
DeleteI'm glad the maxi length worked out for you! Looks so lovely with the flower pin and pop of yellow. You never cease to amaze me with your styling!
