C. Wonder
Sunday, August 12, 2012On a recent trip to the mall, SIL and I walked past a store with "Coming Soon" signs. I didn't pay much attention until she excitedly asked if I've heard of C. Wonder. I shook my head, but her excitement level was enough to warrant a second glance. Their coming soon billboard featured many items, ranging from clothing to accessories to home decor. What jumped out immediately were the bright colors and patterns (ie: ikat, monogram, stripes, anchors) that gave off a distinctive preppy vibe. Whoa, this is right up my alley were my first thoughts. I then took note of prices listed next to each item. Not bad and certainly in my range. I can see myself really liking this store.
(1) $128 Nautical Stripes Silk Shirt
(2) $78 Ikat Voile Tunic
(3) $38 Initial Necklace
(4) $48 Anchor Necklace
(5) $38 Nautical Knots Bangle
(6) $58 Reversible Belt Strap
SIL proceeded to tell me that the store was founded by Tory Burch's ex, Christopher Burch. It's supposed to be a rival for her label, but at more affordable price points, similar to designer collaborations at Target. Apparently New Yorkers (herself included, until recently) have been going nuts since the first store opened last year.
Since the "Coming Soon" signs didn't give a time estimate, I went home and hopped on Google. I was stoked to see that the store in my area will be opening this fall. In the meantime, there is an online shop. After browsing their site, I would say C. Wonder has less of a boho feel compared to Tory Burch. The coolest thing for me is that Christopher and I share the same initial, so their logo-ed items work double duty. Unfortunately there are no free shipping and returns so I'll be waiting until my store opens to try on clothing and check out quality in person.
Have you shopped at C. Wonder before? How would you compare their sizing and quality to other stores'?

I've gone into the shop in NYC. Everything is super cute! I like the home decor items more than the clothes though. The handbags didn't have the best quality. They felt cheaper than what I would expect for the price.
ReplyDeleteThe store's cute decor (seen photos of NYC's) is another thing I'm super excited about, too! Glad to hear your thoughts on their items -- I'll have to keep that in mind when I browse. Fall can't come soon enough ;)
DeleteOh! Never heard of it! I am browsing the sale section on the website...so many cute home decor items!! The blues and nautical/nature theme match the style of my home decor. Considering signing up for emails...which gets me free shipping...and getting some home decor items!
ReplyDeleteAnd this butterfly shirtdress is so adorable!! http://www.cwonder.com/sale/etched-butterfly-shirtdress.html
If I knew it would fit me I would get it! So cute!
Thanks for introducing me to a new site! :)
Ooh, good call, Michelle. Home decor items on sale is probably the least risky items to purchase. I'll have to go back and reconsider my wait :)
DeleteThis is adorable!
ReplyDeleteHmm, a new preppy store you say? Color me fascinated - off to check it out! :)
ReplyDeleteHello, I came across your blog and now I'm a new follower. Great blog. Thanks for sharing your great find; I have not heard of this store. Just checked out the site and it looks pretty neat!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard about this particular store but liked what I see. I will look for one in my area. Thanks for sharing.

I just checked out the store online and pretty good so far. I'm loving their home decor items.
ReplyDeleteI've heard bout that store but never thought they are so cute! I would visit there often once it's open. I hope 'Coming this fall' is soon...not like the end of fall><
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog searching for reviews of one of the dresses on C. Wonder right now. I'm so happy to hear they're coming to Tyson's! Some of the stuff is a little over the top for me, but I love their home decor items and they seem to have great sales. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
