Anchors & Knots
Sunday, July 08, 2012It's hard to believe that just last weekend, a derecho hit most of the Mid-Atlantic. Behind me is a small sample of the aftermath. Some areas suffered much worse damage, ie: fallen trees, with cleanup still ongoing. A week later, I think 99% of power has been restored in the area, businesses are again running at full capacity, and lives are pretty much back to normal. One thing that hasn't changed? We're still experiencing a heatwave.

Cute outfit! :) It's been really hot in my town, too. I think the temps were over 100 most of the weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! The scarf as a belt is perfect! What a fun way to throw in the anchor trend!

I haven't been wearing the scarf enough, so have to find more creative ways to get the most wears out of it! ;)

thank goodness it just cooled down here. all of the weather patterns have been so unnerving. you still look adorable in the heat!
ReplyDeleteI always love that pink shirt on you! Hope the weather gets better for you!
ReplyDeleteI have that same scarf! How were you able to make it work as a belt? It sounds like an awesome idea! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit as always! Glad everything is back to normal in your neck of the woods. :)
Hey Megan! Let me see if I can describe the steps in words, otherwise let me know and I can take some photos :) I folded opposite corners of the square scarf together to form a triangle. Then I rolled the scarf into as thin of a tube as I could. After that, I looped the "belt" through my shorts, with the two end points behind me rather than in front. (The scarf was just long enough to wrap around my hips once). For longer sashes, I'll usually position the ends off to the side and tie the remaining fabric into a bow.
DeleteIt's scorching hot here too in CT...but good to hear that normalcy has been restored (somewhat) in your area. I was going to write you and ask how you were!
ReplyDeleteAlways love your "casual" looks - they are so wearable and with just the right bits of "Cee" in them. :)
Thanks for the concerns, Elle! My street got off pretty easy and only lost power for less than 24 hours. Most of the time were spent going to various places with AC because DH can't handle the heat, hahaha. So I don't really have any interesting stories to tell, except maybe this one you might get a kick out of. The morning after we decided to go to McD because for once we were awake well before 11am lol. Drove past the first McD, saw a HUGE line out the door so decided to try our luck with another one a mile down. Got there and saw even more people in line but time's ticking, so we waited it out. We managed to place a breakfast order with 4 mins to spare... but didn't get our food until 30 mins later. By then they started to run out of breakfast items, so I got a mix of breakfast + lunch food. Woohoo!
DeleteCee- My casual wear is seriously lacking. You're my inspiration for casual wear. I'm glad to hear that thing are almost getting back to normal.
ReplyDeleteHaha, if we can combine closets then we'd be set. Your closet for office wear and mine for casual wear ;)
