Petite Fashion Challenge #14: Holiday Emergency
Tuesday, March 27, 2012
Hosted by Couture Coco, Petite Fashion Challenge #14: Holiday Emergency has us styling a travel outfit into a special evening look using whatever you carry in your purse and anything else immediately at hand (for a pre-booked dinner date due to a luggage delay).
Since I'm not a great traveler, I'm once again coming up with outfits that I would wear in my daydreams (exotic locales are only a thought away!)
For traveling: I kept my outfit comfortable with some layers (for temperature changes), flat shoes, and free of jewelry (hate holding up the line at airport security). A roomy bag was also a must for my carry-on items. I cheated with this challenge and just so happened to pack dressy shoes and a scarf. In reality, both items do come in handy. A scarf is great as another extra layer in case what you're wearing isn't warm enough. I also like to store odd-shaped items like shoes in my carry-on instead of using shoe boxes with checked luggage.
For dinner date: A quick change in the airport bathroom involving a shoe swap, unrolling of pants' hem, rearranging the top, and convenient accessories additions later, I emerge ready for my dinner reservation. No wallowing in sorrow for my lost luggage... until after a delicious meal. Or hey, there's always shopping at the new destination.

I see the Sperry's are getting a lot of love these days. =)
ReplyDeleteNice and easy transition into a dinner outfit! My favorite is that cute scarf that just adds a great punch to the white blouse.
I can't believe I've put off Sperrys for so long! You know what that means... I'm going to enable you every chance I get until you get your pair ;)
DeleteGreat easy way to change up an outfit (although I'd be wearing my jewelry, I don't know if it's just where I travel but I never have to take off my jewelry when going through airport security). I like how both outfits have a nautical feel to them which keeps your look consistant (and makes it easier to change up an outfit without carrying around a bunch of stuff in your bag).
ReplyDeleteLucky you! I've been asked to take off my belt many times going through security and don't want to add any more time spent beyond that.
DeleteLove the original outfit and the transition outfit. So impressed!
ReplyDeleteCreamy
I love Sperry's and how comfortable they are! Both of your outfits looks so light and comfortable! I lvoe how glam your scarf is! :)
ReplyDeleteYour outfit looks very comfortable and glam at the same time (glamfortable??) :)
ReplyDeleteI'll take glamfortable ;)
DeleteYour scarf is beautiful! It makes your dinner outfit look so chic and elegant. I am also a big fan of dressing in layers for air travel--you just never know whether it'll be hot or cold.
ReplyDeleteLoving you scarf and a lovely transition!
ReplyDeleteLove both your outfits! Both are easy chic and stylish.
ReplyDeleteWow, such little changes but the whole outfit is transformed! I love it Cee!
ReplyDeleteI love how you change your outfit by making a few changes and adding accessories.
ReplyDeleteGreat transition! Pulling the hair back and tucking in the blouse makes such a huge difference from relaxed / casual to sophisticated chic. Way to embrace the challenge!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
