Petite Fashion Challenge #3: The look for less
Thursday, October 28, 2010
Hosted by PetiteLittleGirl, Petite Fashion Challenge #3: The look for less has us recreating a look for less of our favorite style icon. Everyone knows I love Olivia Palermo, but her style isn't really me, it's what I want to be. She's so put-together all the time whereas I'm more... simple and laid-back. Therefore, I chose Lauren Conrad of The Hills (sorry Olivia for cheating on you!)
After scouring the Internet for pics that I could possibly use, I came across one of Lauren wearing Christian Louboutin pumps and possibly J Brand jeans while carrying a Chanel bag. The items I dug out for my outfit are considerably less in cost, but I really wish I had round-toe pumps! The witchy ones I have on are better suited for Halloween haha. (Note to self: keep an eye out for black patent round-toe pumps)

Great job, Lauren Conrad is fairly representative of young hollywood style. The well fitted jeans and button down look (TLDP did Ashley Olsen and her look is somewhat similar) never goes out of style. I love the shoes you are wearing, I can't pull off pointy shoes but I sure covet them.
ReplyDeleteso simple, but I love it.
ReplyDeleteSimple and chic - it's a casual but elegant look! The shoes really add that extra oomph to it.
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of your outfit and it's very similar to TLDP but a bit more dressy. Pumps always take an outfit from drab to fab! =)
ReplyDeleteGreat casual outfit...the jeans keep it simple but the button up and heels add class. I know what you mean about the pointy pumps...pointy were all I wore to work until I discovered ann taylor's round/almond toe pumps! I laughed at your halloween witch comment : )
ReplyDeleteCasual, simple and very practical. This is something I wear a lot too. You did a good job.
ReplyDeleteYou totally nailed this one. Perfection! LOL about the witchy shoes, I have a pair like that too, I wore them all the time and now I feel like my feet look weird in them!
ReplyDeleteLike a few others mentioned up there, I did a similar look for this! LOL Great minds think alike, no? ; ) Yours is definitely dressier and I like the wash of those jeans!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very chic outfit! I didn't know cuffing the jeans can look so stylish. You definitely got the look :).
ReplyDeleteRe: ON. I so wanted the yellow one, too! By the time I got to the website (on the 26th), it was sold out. I recall you tried on the yellow one? What happened to it?
Wow. I forget how much I like button downs until I see one worn perfectly by someone else. Looks great...simple but chic.
ReplyDeleteLC is the perfect example of casual chic and you totally nailed her look!
ReplyDeleteI just bought the most perfect roundtoe pair of patent leather pumps from Ann Taylor as pictures here: http://sisterssincere.blogspot.com/2010/10/super-sales.html
Not sure what your shoe size is or your budget but these would be perfect!
Great interpretation Cee! :)
ReplyDeleteI like this look! Casual chic - laidback but still dressed up. I've all over this easy style!
ReplyDeleteI love this look-- simple and elegant. Very nicely done! And great blog! I've found soooo many great blogs through this PFC! :)Kiki
ReplyDeleteNice job on the outfit! I never would've thought a tucked in button-down would be so stylish, but it seems to work! You and Jessy were definitely on the same page :)
ReplyDeleteGreat look! I like your "witchy" heels!
ReplyDeleteLove love love! I didn't see this photo when searching for LC. You did amazing! So pretty and casually chic.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is very similar to the one The Little Dust Princess wore! I love them both. I really like the fade on your jeans and the way you paired them with those beautiful pumps. This is definitely an outfit I will try to recreate myself, great job!!
ReplyDeleteI am loving this look. I also like Lauren Conrad. I wish her clothes is more toward petite-friendly. You look so chic in this outfit. Thanks for participating.
ReplyDeleteLauren Conrad has such a great style. I love the blue monochromatic color of this look as it really elongates a petite figure. Nice job in your recreation!

You pulled it off really well! For a sec, I thought I was looking at Lauren Conrad in both pictures! I love the cuffed-jean look!
ReplyDeleteIn the AT post I did I was wearing these black Dolce Vita pumps that I got a few weeks ago (I wear them a lot, I am ashamed to say). I don't know if I should recommend them because I really liked them initially but over time they became bigger so now I struggle to keep them on. sigh. Good things can't seem to last forever.
ReplyDeleteGreat recreation of the outfit! Simple yet very chic! LOL on the witchy pumps. haha!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the light denim button-down! Another item added to my mental want list! I think the casual outfit looks great with your heels and a large bag! Great job! :)
ReplyDeleteYou totally got that look down :) I think you choose nice-fitting button-up shirts, or maybe your body type fits well with that style. I have the hardest time finding any button-up shirts that fits normal.
ReplyDelete@Elle - Agree about Lauren! I usually wear pointy shoes with wide-legged pants, so only a bit of the point sticks out. Otherwise, I look like I have big feet haha.
ReplyDeleteRe: Dolce Vita pumps, that's horrible! I'll have to remember that if I ever come across a style I like.
@I am Khatu, @SewPetiteGal, @Stylepint, @Nelah, @Sydney at PetiteGorgeous, @jlovesBal, @Lisa - respect the shoes, @Kiki, @PetiteXXS, @The Backseat Stylers, @TinyInTexas, @Callandra, @kileen, @Vicky, @Michelle - Thank you!
@PetiteAsianGirl, @Cari - Thanks for the recommendation, I'll be sure to check out Ann Taylor's pumps.
@curls-and-pearls - Have you tried wearing pointy shoes with wide-legged pants? I find if only a little bit peeks out, it looks less witchy, haha.
@The Little Dust Princess - High five for great minds! lol
@Alterations Needed - Button downs are my go-to when I'm feeling lazy =P
@PetiteLittleGirl - I've read that Lauren gets all her clothes tailored, that's why everything looks so great on her. Aiya! If only I was rich ;)
@Curvy Petite - I wasn't so sure about cuffed jeans at first, but I'm glad I gave it a shot!
@olyvia - I find Hollister/Abercrombie button downs in size M fit well on me. Maybe a tad too short length-wise, but I just wear long tanks underneath. I've had good luck with Express too. Hopefully you'll be able to find something that fits!
Nice post, thanks for sharing.
