Haul: Banana Republic jacket + wrap

Sunday, October 03, 2010

A couple items I bought from Banana Republic's birthday sale last week...

First is the Banana Republic Double knit charcoal melange jacket in dark charcoal gray, size 0. I should have read the fabric content more carefully because I expected the jacket to be structured -- like a suiting jacket. But straight out of the box, this jacket puddles into a ball. In a way it's nice because it's so soft to the touch, but it wasn't what I wanted. It's also very tight in the arms and armpit area (can hardly raise my arms!), so this is going back to the store. Even on sale for $75 (retails $140), I don't think I'll exchange it even if I find one in a size up.

top, belt: Express
pants: Express (this season's version sold here)
shoes: BCBGirls (currently sold here)

The next two items I bought were the Banana Republic Solid jersey wrap in pale hyacinth and steel blue. I couldn't decide on a color and needed another item to receive free shipping (horrible, I know), so I ordered both. In my head I kept telling myself, it helps to see the color in person before I decide =P These wraps are so soft to the touch, machine washable, and the ruffles are so feminine (love!). My wardrobe has nothing in lilac/purple so that's the color I've decided to keep. Can't wait until the weather gets cold! Buy it online here.

  7. Oh do not worry I will stick things in my shopping cart (that I do not need) just so I get free shipping. For some reason it feels like I win every time I do that. LOL. I'm looking forward to your next update on the fit with the blazer!

  8. I have a love/hate relationship with the "structured" knits that are all over the place this fall. On one hand I love the casual knit blazers bc they're easy and cute. However, when they're too unstructured (not lined, too thin), then they just don't seem worth it.

And I am all about the adding more items to my cart to get FS - why spend the $10 on shipping when I can spend $12 and have a new shirt?!

  9. I love the scarves and may pick them up too! Great colours that will pretty much go with anything!
