Petite Fashion Challenge #2: Wear it Now, Wear it Later

Petite Fashion Challenge #2: Wear it Now, Wear it Later has us going into our closet and creating two outfits, one for spring/summer and one for fall/winter, both centering around one item. In my case, I've selected my LOVE 21 knotted shift dress.
Bottom left is my summer outfit where I wore the dress as a top. What I love about summer is the ability to accessorize with bright, fun colors against crisp white. Oh, and of course, getting away with wearing short skirts ;)
Bottom right is my fall outfit where I wore the dress as... well, a dress :) The color itself transitions well into cooler weather. Add a blazer, tights, suede wedges, and I'm ready for work.

I love this post because I almost could not tell the two photos contained the same items. You changed it up so much! As pretty as this is as a dress, I am a huge fan of how you wore it for the warm weather ensemble. How come I don't see a large bulge from tucking the fabric in? That is usually what happens when I try to wear a dress as a top.
ReplyDeletemy fav of the list by far. love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your summer outfit! The sash makes it even more special : )

I really like the fall outfit! I like the way you wore the gray shoes over black tights, something I've never tried, and I'm gonna try now :)
ReplyDeleteYour two outfits look so different and I agree with PAG, how did you get the skirt to be so flat? I always get a bulge unless the skirt is flared.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I love the colorful cheeriness of your summer outfit and the transition into darker colors with the autumn one. =)
i love the outfits :D
ReplyDeleteYou look terrific! I love both of your outfits but especially the fall/winter one (which theory blazer is this?) The sash is such a nice touch to the fall/winter outfit.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! The skirt in the summer outfit is quite fitting, how did you get the dress tucked in without it bulging or creating funny lines? Really, really well done.
ReplyDeleteI remember that Forever21 dress from your last post! Wow, you were so creative on this one! Most people used the dress by itself in their spring/summer piece but you chose to switch it around. I really like the bright details in your summer look and the monochromatic sophisticated colors in your fall look.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with the comments on the tucking .. you have got to be the master of it, where did the excess fabric go??!
Love both looks. The top is so versatile that you can wear it tucked or untucked. A pop of colorful belt is such a fun and refreshing element for summer outfit.
ReplyDeleteGreat looks!! Was it difficult tucking the dress into the skirt?
ReplyDelete@everyone who asked about tucking the dress into the skirt - It was actually not too bad! I had to reach under the skirt to sort of "straighten" the dress a bit to avoid the bunching, but I also pulled more of the dress out the top of the skirt to avoid excess fabric being trapped underneath. Alright that was so long-winded I'm not even sure if that made sense haha.
ReplyDelete@Elle - It's the theory Bindi blazer!
I really like your spring/summer outfit! The drape of the neck is so pretty and the material looks like silk in the first picture. Love it!
ReplyDeleteWow you did a great job! I love your whole summer ensemble and it's definitely unexpected to wear a dress as a top!
ReplyDeleteVery creative, wearing a dress as a top. The fall look is very stylish. The color definitely works in both seasons.
ReplyDeleteThe neckline to your dress is just so gorgeous and you carry it off perfectly. You definitely aced this challenge - the 2 outfits look completely different and chic!
ReplyDeleteLove your summer outfit! I like how you worn your dress as a top. Well put together
ReplyDeleteI like both outfits, though the summer one is definitely my fave! It's amazing how much of a difference styling makes!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm thoroughly impressed. Both outfits are super fab! I never would have thought that dress could be so versatile. Great styling!
ReplyDeleteGreat dress. I love that you use it as both a top and a dress. The summer look is quite striking with the white skirt and colorful belt.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
