Petite Fashion Challenge #11: Vacation Vogue

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Hosted by Alli @ Ski Petite, Petite Fashion Challenge #11: Vacation Vogue has us putting together an outfit made for sightseeing. It should be one that will be comfortable for walking around in and can last you from the early morning until dinner and drinks in the evening. You can choose just one outfit but vary it by adding or taking off layers or accessories to take you from the a.m. to the p.m. and make one outfit easier to last through the day.

I've always dressed like a bum on vacation, therefore sticking out like a sore thumb in both photos and as a tourist, lol. In the spirit of this challenge, I came up with outfits that I would wear while traveling in my daydreams, all the while keeping in mind one must: comfort.

For my a.m. look: I chose a soft sweater, skinny jeans, and the most broke-in pair of flats that I own (to avoid blisters). I accessorized through layering, which allows me to stay warm (indoors and out) while remaining comfortable.
sunglasses: Old Navy round metal-hardware (similar)
sweater: Abercrombie & Fitch cowl-neck (similar; similar)
top: Gap striped cowlneck (similar)
jacket: Zara jacket with zips (this season's version sold here; similar)
bag: H&M snake-embossed envelope (similar)
jeans: LOFT black modern skinny (sold here)
flats: Mossimo Desta ballet (similar)

For my p.m. look: I kept the core items from my morning look, but changed it up with the sweater styling and shoes (less walking, so heels are doable). Cowl-neck sweaters are so versatile and perfect for vacations when you want a range of looks but limited in suitcase space. Other ways of wearing these type of sweaters include: off both shoulders and with the cowl-neck draped down the front.

Be sure to check out all the other participants' outfits!
necklace: H&M with pearls & bow (similar)
ring: Forever 21 faceted faux gemstone (sold here)

  10. Cee!! I am in love with this outfit! I want that jacket! I need that jacket! :p

And I always love seeing that necklace! I never think it is H&M...Kate Spade is my first guess, then Juicy would be my second. Never H&M!

  11. I agree with you about the cowl neck sweater. Sweater and jean combos are my go-to look in the fall and winter. As for the clutch, I would never have guessed H&M, either. Thought it was BCBG for a moment!

  17. @The Little Dust Princess - Unfortunately, no. The clutch is from this past summer's collection. Perhaps try the sales section? You may just get lucky. I'll keep my eyes out for you as well :)

@Amanda - Definitely keep rechecking back! I've seen Zara online restock before... or are they due from returns? haha.

  19. This is one of my favorite outfit posts from you thus far, and since i have a pair of Gap skinny black cropped pants (Gap Kids), the Ann Taylor bretton stripe l/s T and a gray boat neck sweater, I think I am recreating this look tomorrow for work.

  21. @Alterations Needed - Much too slowwww, haha. I need to just practice more on random objects, but I seem to be only practicing when there's outfit pics to take instead :)

@littlenashua - Of course! Do share a pic of your outfit with us?

@Tara - I know, right?! And to think I almost put this sweater into the donation pile.

  22. Those jeans look really nice. Is the inseam really 31"+?

    ReplyDelete
  23. @kam wam - Hey, the jeans have more like 32-33" inseam. I tucked the ends under (lengths vary) when I wear them. Inseams of 30-31" usually works best for me. Hope that helps!

  24. @littlenashua - Lol I just realized I sounded like I mind. I meant to say, of course I don't mind ;)

  25. Comfortable flats are rule number 1 while traveling and touring abroad, the rest of the outfit should chicly be built around them. Which of course you did. Rule number 2, never look like a tourist!
