Floral/Stripes

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

I figured the navy stripes on my top would be dark enough that I can get away with wearing black pumps. But whether due to the lighting or the blue bag (or a combination of both), the black pumps turned out to be such a glaring contrast in photos. Perhaps I should've worn another neutral color instead? Nude pumps? Snakeskin pumps?

  1. Yeah, I see your point with the dark heels. The outfit itself is such a lovely combination though that I don't think it's too big a deal! I might have worn nude heels, but then again I always seem to prefer nude heels. Just yesterday I wore bright pink pants with a black and white polka dot blouse. Black heels ended up looking better with the outfit, but my initial instinct was to go for the nude, haha.

    1. There's nothing wrong with nude shoes being our brain's default! It's universally flattering for a reason ;)

  3. A snakeskin pump would have been a nice accent. Those black pumps are really nice, but I agree, probably too much contrast with your outfit.

    1. Ahh, navy pumps. They definitely would've been in the running if I owned a pair! It's funny how I love (and own) many navy colored pieces of clothing, but none in shoes. Time to add yet another item to my wishlist? :)

    1. :) :) I wore the Rockstuds with the same skirt recently for a dressier outfit, so I wanted to change it up this time. But as they say... if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? Not sure why I keep trying to be different. Sigh.

    1. Thanks Sue! I think black looked much more flattering in real life. I didn't start to second guess myself until I saw these photos.

  7. Hi Cee, if i may ask, what size did you end up getting in those YSL pumps?

    1. Of course! I usually wear 36-36.5 and bought these pumps in a 36.5. The toebox is narrow and I have normal-to-wide feet. I'm still breaking them in and think I could've sized up to a 37 and been ok. Jean @ Extra Petite bought hers in her usual size of 35 and said the shoes were tight but after a few wears, they're more comfortable. She has narrower feet than I do though. Hope that helps!
