Petite Fashion Challenge #15: Chic Pin-spiration
Tuesday, April 24, 2012
Hosted by Megan @ Love live classy, Petite Fashion Challenge #15: Chic Pin-spiration has us finding a pic of an outfit we love on Pinterest, and re-creating it the best way possible!
My inspiration photo for this challenge is old-school J.Crew (surprise, surprise). I love how she wore the tie paired with a feminine color palette.
In my previous attempt at tie-wearing and tie-tying (which I've still yet to master), the size of the tie has been an issue for me. Aside from buying a skinnier tie, there's nothing I can do about the width. The length however, can be "fixed" by tucking inside the skirt. Why didn't I think of this before?!
I based my look on a similar color scheme while keeping the same key pieces (tie, shirt, sweater, and pencil skirt). This outfit is one that I may or may not have eventually figured out to wear together, but I'll take inspirations sooner rather than later.

ReplyDeleteLove it! The idea of tucking the tie in is genius! Love the combination of the floral skirt and striped tie!

The floral skirt makes your outfit much better than the original!
ReplyDeleteCee, I love your tie looks! I also had tie length issues, and short of making the tie shorter, you can: make the wide part the proper length, and then loop the tail end of the length through the back tag thingy a few times (that's how I did it last time), or, wear a button-down shirt and tuck the longer tail end inside the shirt (of course, you have to make sure the wide part of the tie doesn't reveal your tuck job).
ReplyDeleteI must have this skirt!!! I think I saw this skirt....and I didn't buy it...so regretting it now!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news :( The skirt is from last season and your best bet might be eBay now.
DeleteVery preppy chic. I'm compelled to buy a tie and try it out too!
ReplyDeleteOr you can test it out by stealing your dad/bf/guy friend's tie ;)
DeleteWow, the whole look is so smart yet feminine at the same time. I really love how you put it together. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love your ability to take an outfit and create your own.
ReplyDeleteWow, menswear tie + floral skirt?? You are a genius, GENIUS, I tell you! I know I say this a lot, but I want your legs so badly.
ReplyDeleteI really love this look! The yellow cardigan really makes the outfit stand out. :)
ReplyDeleteI like how you kept the key pieces and made the outfit your own. The skirt is absolutely beautiful as well.

This is one of those posts where I have to say I love your look better :) Your floral skirt is so cute and I love that you took risk by mixing patterns with your stripes tie. If there is a vote button, I'm definitely voting for you! Great job! xo

ReplyDeleteI really love your version Cee, and wow look at those legs of yours! sexy sexy!
ReplyDeleteAdore the skirt. You made this outfit more adult-appropriate versus prep schoolgirl. I like how you styled the tie like a scarf. I may have to steal one of my fiance's ties and try this!
ReplyDeleteDo it! If your fiance is oblivious like mine, I bet he wouldn't even notice ;) Please let me know how it goes!
DeleteHi Cee, everytime I stop by your page, I love this outfit more and more. I never thought about wearing a tie but this look sure is inspiring!
ReplyDeleteP.S. In responds to your question, I wasn't planning on selling my tulle skirt but a few ladies has asked so I am going to make it for them in a color and length of their choice. Btw - who is AT? :)
