Coming Full Circle
Monday, June 04, 2012Last year, I fell in love with J.Crew cafe capris in bright dahlia on Blair. Tried on the pants myself and it was a disaster. Then I gave a skirt in a similar color a shot and thought it was too expensive at retail price. I waited for sale season but wasn't diligent enough at refreshing my browser for potential pop backs. When the bright dahlia cafe capris went on sale, I admired them from afar on Khatu, Tiffany, and Jean, with just a little hint of jealousy.
Not soon after, I was elated to see these Ann Taylor Chelsea cropped pants in intense orchid online. Deja vu, anyone? Cher was kind enough to sell me hers (see her review) after most small sizes had sold out. The fit isn't perfect on me, but I'll live because I love the color and length. The material itself wrinkles like crazy --- all I did was go to work, sit, and walk around! So please excuse the wrinkle mess; I didn't have time in the morning for photos. As for pluses, does machine washable count?

ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that your measurements are almost exactly the same as mine, you're just taller! We should swap clothes! LOL.
ReplyDeleteUmm YES! Why haven't we thought of that until now?!
DeleteLove the color.
ReplyDeleteThe color is definitely awesome. I have the J Crew ones but feel that they give a little in stretch throughout the day so I don't end up as pristine as I intend anyway--unless I remain standing, luckily I go shopping upright :)

J.Crew ones in wool or cotton? I've heard the wool ones are pretty wrinkle resistant (though the downside is unlined wood). I think if I had chosen a darker color the wrinkles won't be as visible. God knows my black pants are a wrinkle mess!
DeleteMachine washable definitely counts as a plus!
ReplyDeleteI also really love your sandals. I've been lusting over shoes with a delicate ankle strap, and they look amazing on you. I confess that I haven't pulled the trigger on a pair I'm too lazy to fuss with a teeny tiny buckle...
Teeny tiny buckles drive me nuts! I can't deal with them on flat sandals for some reason but for heels I'll put up with them... as I can't see myself wearing them as often.
DeleteIf you're interested in these particular pair of sandals, wait for an AT sale with 50% off (no code) and then sometimes they have another 20% off code on top of that!
I love the color of the pants! Very cute!

Love the color of that pants on you Cee. Nice outfit.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous color! I too have admired the dahlia capris on the above bloggers but am currently stalking a LOFT version http://www.loft.com/loft/product/product%3A284484/LOFT-Marisa-View-All/Marisa-Stretch-Cotton-Twill-Ankle-Zip-Pants/284484?colorExplode=false&skuId=11371359&catid=cat810022&productPageType=fullPriceProducts&defaultColor=9000 since their cuts seem to fit my body well.
ReplyDeleteIn cosmic pink? Ahh, the lilac/purple/pink is so you, SPG! ;)
Deletei LOVE the color of those!
ReplyDeletei love those pants! i have the j crew one in blue, but i haven't worn it yet. i also have that dress too. we can be clothes twins!
ReplyDeleteHi twin ;) Love to find others with same clothes, for easy inspiration, muahaha. But really, can't wait to see you style your blue capris!
DeleteI adore this combo of girlie, edgy and corporate!
ReplyDeleteColor is gorgeous! I can understand why you've wanted. Are you going to slim a little? Winkles are outstanding just because a little big on you?
ReplyDeleteNope, I don't think I'll be slimming. Leg opening will be too tight if I slim. I think the waist/hip fits comfortably and tailoring will probably be more than I'm willing to spend. The material definitely is contributing to the wrinkles :(
DeleteNice pants, you have good style. Pants can be combined with a cool bag
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
