Petite Fashion Challenge #17: Candy Colorized
Thursday, June 28, 2012
Hosted by SewPetiteGal, Petite Fashion Challenge #17: Candy Colorized has us taking a bowl full of colorful candies (M&Ms, Jolly Ranchers, jelly beans, etc.), closing your eyes, and drawing 2-3 pieces. Then use those colors (+ a neutral of your choosing) to form the basis for your ensemble.
My first thought upon hearing this challenge was, "Where am I going to find navy and pink candy [two colors I wear most often]?" Then I came to my senses. What's a challenge if we're not forced to flex those creative brain muscles, right?
From a bag of peanut M&M's, I picked out: brown, yellow, and green. I then mentally ran through my closet and came up with 1 pair of brown pants, 2 yellow tops, 1 yellow belt, 1 brown belt, 1 green top, 1 green jacket, and 1 green belt. Let the mixing and matching begin!
Outfit #1: I started off nice and easy, pairing primary yellow with a more wearable shade of green. Crisp white served two purposes: my neutral color of choice and accent color for accessorizing. The color's been kind to me, probably comprising of a third of my wardrobe, therefore making it the easy default choice.
Outfit #2: For the second outfit, I wanted to avoid neutrals and put together an outfit made up of the same green and yellow shades from the M&Ms. Bright green isn't a color I normally wear, so it took a little digging to remember I own a tie belt in this shade. Thank goodness for random accessories.

Great job Cee! Dang...I know I say this way too much but you have seriously nice long legs..LOL Hope I don't sound like a creeper :D
ReplyDeleteEither I have long legs or I should stop wearing short shorts, hahaha.
Deleteyou did such a great job with this challenge! you look so pretty in both outfits! xox P

green and yellow is such a great color combo! i literally had to count my pieces, too. i pretty much sold my entire closet again :/
ReplyDeleteOh man, thanks for the reminder. I think a summer cleaning of my closet is in order as well. But cleaning always mean more new outfits to look forward to! Can't wait to see them :)
DeleteOohhh I love the 2nd outfit! And to Annie's comment I probably commented on your legs a ton of times in the past LOL!
ReplyDeleteNo worries, no creepy vibes received from the legs comment, lol.
DeleteWhat a clever challenge! I'm actually loving the yellow, brown and green combo! I'm going to have to try this challenge myself!
ReplyDeletethat last look is my favorite! so relaxed and it looks so great on you!
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect two outfits! I love that! Brown, green, and yellow seem like such a difficult combo. You did a great job though. :) I love it all, as always!
ReplyDeleteNicely done, Cee! I don't know that there's a challenge on Earth that you wouldn't be able to knock out of the park. LOL on the navy and pink candy :)
ReplyDeleteMy ego that likes compliments thank you. But really, thank you for a fun and creative challenge!
DeleteGorgeous! I love that anorak jacket so much!!
ReplyDeleteYou pull off yellow well!! I am so glad yellow was not one of my colors...I only have a yellow hoodie!!
Haha, yellow to you is like orange to me. I don't think I own anything in orange o.O I think it's time I change that!
DeleteGreat job on both outfits! I could only work with one outfit. I think the colors really work well together.
ReplyDeleteHelen
You look lovely and good job with the colors!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! The 1st one is something I want to try :D
ReplyDeletegreat post :)
great job cee, you did really well with those colors! I been seeing a lot of yellow on all the participants including myself :D
ReplyDeletelove your jacket! and that pop of yellow underneath certainly brightens my day!
ReplyDeleteCee, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the first outfit. Man I wish I look half as good as you in shorts.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I am certain we are soulmates when it comes to food. If you tell me your favorite skittles are red and purple I am going to challenge your hubby to a duel. :DDDD
HAHA DH is safe for now. How is green not among your favorites?! It's my #1 for skittles, and a close 2nd and 3rd are red and purple. Can you imagine if we had to share a bag of candy? Catfight lol!
Deletehaha, I am a gentleman. You get first dibs. I'll do what J always does - eat the unwanted candy. ;)
DeleteGreat outfits! I like how you pushed yourself in the second outfit to be more bold with the color. And the tie belt works great to add that hint of green! Have a wonderful weekend :)
ReplyDeleteMe too, even though I thought the second outfit is more "boring." Nevertheless, I love when fashion is fun. Have a great weekend to you too, Amy!
DeleteThat's a great Ann Taylor necklace. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteLMAO I love that your first thought was about where to find colors you usually use. I thought the same and then decided to really challenge myself and blame the challenge if my outfit came out weird. :) Anyway, you did a good job and this is a cool departure from your usual pretty colors. Hope you let me know what you think of my look too.
ReplyDeleteA Preponderance of Fashion
Lol @ "cheating" and placing blame appropriately. Great minds think alike ;)
DeleteI always like you in yellow and every time I saw you in yellow, I cannot stop thinking buying yellow. The truth is that every time I try yellow, I remember you and realized I'm not you...
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit as always!
I beg to differ! We're both yellow people, so if I can pull off primary yellow, I bet you can too :)
DeleteThat's true. I gotta try again!
DeleteHi Cee, I've been following your blog for a little while and I have to admit that reading about you gave me the courage to start my own blog. I absolutely love your honesty and your style. Good job on both outfits... love your jacket!
ReplyDeleteHi Monica! That's for taking the time to leave me such a heartfelt comment <3 Do you have a link to your blog? I tried going through your Blogger profile, but it says "Profile not available." Would love to check it out if you don't mind :)
DeleteHi Cee, thanks for the quick reply and even more for asking about my blog. I'm still really shy about promoting it (not to say terrified), but I know I will get over it soon. Here is the link: http://fashionkoketi.blogspot.com/
DeleteAny comments will be appreciated!!! Xoxo...
You are too funny Cee. How much do you want to bet that most people had the same idea cross their mind on the candy picking process?
ReplyDeleteLove both outfits, so nice and casual, and so you.
And I wish I had a bag closet, Cee. :) They are now scattered all over the place, unorganized. Hope one day I will make it right. :)
Maybe deep down inside we're all secret cheaters, lol ;)
DeleteYes, your beautiful bags deserve an equally nice home. Perhaps an item to add to your husband's honey-do list? :D :D :D
Thanks for your comment on my PFC post, Cee! I totally agree that tops with so many colors can be too reminiscent of children's clothing, but J.Crew knocked it out of the park with that one!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore both of your looks and can't wait to replicate them! Thanks for the great ideas! xoxo
Cee, you will get along just fine with my family. My daughter like the yellow Skittles, my husband the red and you can have the green one. =) You always do such a great job on the PFC. Both outfits are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHAHA, I'll have to keep everyone's favorite Skittles in mind if we ever end up sharing a bag ;)
DeleteI really love the first outfit, and I think I even have all of the pieces to recreate it! Next summer, anyway, when I can fit into my real clothes again :)
ReplyDeleteThis is kind of an awesome challenge, and I'm so tempted to try it on my own sometime soon...
Love these pictures and outfit! Were this pictures takes at Fair Lakes?
ReplyDeleteo.O Good eye, Jenn! The first outfit photos were taken at Fair Lakes, at a non-occupied building... I think... I hope?
DeleteYes is a non-occupied building. I managed that building and spent most of this past week there because I had a big tour coming up. How funny! You can take as many pictures as you like there :)
ReplyDeleteWhew, good to know! I took these photos awhile back for the challenge and didn't notice anyone around. Will definitely come back when I'm in that part of town :)
DeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
