Navy on Navy

Friday, November 25, 2011

After Thanksgiving dinner at my parents' house last night, bf and I drove by Best Buy for fun just to see what the line was like. We had considered lining up for one of the $200 LCD TVs earlier in the day, but passed because ours was still in working condition. Besides, I think if robbers ever get through our front door, they'd take a look at our tube TV and walk right back out. A great deterrent I'd say ;) Amazingly, we estimated around 300 people in line around 8pm. As we drove by slowly, we looked at what people were doing to keep themselves busy, but most stared right back at us, haha. I guess waiting in line gets boring after awhile. After that, I went home and browsed some online sales, but didn't end up buying anything. I also slept in this morning, so all in all, a typical Black Friday for me.

Did you partake in the shopping madness? How did you fare?

  1. No shipping for me and I didn't buy anything online YET:)

I like your skirt and the clutch. Is the clutch recent?

  2. Oh man. Somehow I ended up buying THREE pairs of boots after swearing I was done with boots this season. I hope end up hating all of them. LOL. I also got sucked into the 25% at J.Crew again because I'm obsessed with finding some colored trousers. I don't have much luck with J.Crew pants so they're probably going to go back anyway, but I wanted to try them on anyway so I can stop wondering if they might actually fit. And the one thing I actually did want to buy? Went up in price. Nice.

    Cute bow tie! :)

  3. @Really Petite - Haha, the keyword, "yet" ;) Unfortunately the clutch is from this past summer, so I think your best bet will be eBay. Will keep my eyes out for you (and Jessy) though!

@Cher - Did you take advantage of Express' 40% off to try on the red trousers?! I looked for free shipping codes but didn't find any. I also hate how J.Crew pants fit me funny. I've tried on Minnies and cafe capris in the past but all were problematic in different ways. Can't wait to see your boots (and trousers) reviews if you feel they're review-worth ;)

@Jane - Thanks! I can see you also rocking them ;)

  4. You are getting better with the bow-tie look! I especially like the last picture...whimsical and preppy! love it! I kinda wish I didn't have to work today, because I think there were some great sales going on online in the morning too. But then again, I'm glad I didn't get sucked into the sales and end up buying stuff I don't really need just because it's on sale, haha :)

  5. Haha, no I didn't order the Express pants. Paying for shipping kills me. I need to want it BADLY, and I need to be sure there is at least a 95% chance I'm going to keep it.

I tried the Cafe Trousers in 00R, way too big. The Minnie in Stretch Twill 00P fit decently in the hips, but too short and didn't hold it's structure enough. The Minnie in bi-stretch wool and Cafe Capris (I think) are on their way. We'll see. They might all be too short in the very least. The capris at least have a cuff so I can let them out, but I doubt that they are going to fit in the hips. They arrive on Monday!

  7. Too cute!!

No physical shopping for me on Black Friday. I did find a few deals (over 50% off) on freepeople.com...just posted about it. We shall see if they are keepers!

  8. I love the blue on blue. I hit up anthro and was done in 35 mins. Record baby!

  9. @Olyvia - Haha, this is only my second attempt! I really should have bought a real one (not one of these clip-ons) because man, clip-ons are hard to maneuver once the shirt is buttoned up. I almost gave up and switched to a necklace, but I'm glad I kept at it ;)

@Cher - Ooh so excited to see both new pants on you (especially the cafe capris in petite sizing). I'm taller than you but I think your legs are longer... how unfair is that?! ;) So as usual, I have selfish reasons to look forward to your reviews :D

@el.vi. - I understand your feelings... this is my one and only theory item, but I bought it at the outlets for much cheaper. It's worth a visit if you have one nearby!

@Michelle - Off to check out your deals now!

@makeupandpearls - Lol, but the question is did you leave with anything? ;)

  11. LOL about a thief turning around after seeing your tube TV. We have 2 of those remaining - one in the bedroom (what a clunker) and one in the loft. Still loving all your bow tie and tie looks! And still want to try this but can't find a way to do it that looks good yet :)

  12. @AubreyOhDang! - Thanks Aubs! I'm already running out of ideas to wear this bow tie, lol. Must scour Pinterest!

@SewPetiteGal - I hope you wear it soon! Would love more ideas on how to wear one. If you're still on the lookout, I think you should go for one that isn't a clip-on. I can forsee so much more outfit possibilities, ie: ends draped around neck a la ex-J.Crew's Marissa Webb.

  13. Look how cute your bow-tie is. I love it!

I went out people-watching on Black Friday, but that was about it. I saved my shopping for less crowded Saturday deals at the outlet mall...which were almost just as good at the places I wanted to shop anyway. Win! :)
