A Classic

I wear variations of today's outfit year-round. For warmer weather days, a striped tee + shorts + sandals are a no-frills, easy combination. In cold weather, swap out the tee for a sweater, shorts for jeans, sandals for suede ankle boots, and layer a navy peacoat for additional warmth. Voila! A put-together outfit that will stand the test of time.

    1. Hey! I'm wearing sz XS in the sweater (I typically wear XXS-XS in AT sweaters). I tried on the XXS but felt the arms were a tad tight. XS felt looser overall but still semi-fitted. The sweater is a tiny bit itchy, so I do wear a long-sleeve tee underneath. Hope that helps!

  2. Hey Cee! Love the outfit, a classic. I was wondering if I could get your thoughts on the Downing tote? I wasn't sure if it would overwhelm a 5'2 girl. And also if youve compared it to the Madewell transport. Thanks!

    1. Celena! I've never seen the Madewell Transport tote in person, so I won't be of help there =/ Alexis shared her comparison between the two and many of her readers chimed in with their opinions -- perhaps you'll find it helpful.

The Downing tote was somewhat of an impulse purchase for me, but I fell in love with it rather quickly after getting my hands on one. Definitely no regrets whatsoever. I think the bottom seam is pretty, but if you like more of a streamlined look, the Transport is probably the better choice. Note the lack of inside pocket on the Downing, which may be a deal-breaker for some people. I just looked at the measurements online and the Transport is slightly wider. I personally think the Downing is a great size for me (I'm ~5'5" for reference) and don't feel overwhelmed. Elle is your height and owns the Transport tote (see posts here and here). Hope that helps!

    2. I just realized I never responded to this-- thank you very much for the help! I think I will get one with the 40% off that is running right now. It seems very classic and versatile (with a little twist of the seam setting it apart). Thanks girl and HNY!
