Jacket #3: Navy Peacoat
Wednesday, December 12, 2012I turned to my friend-with-considerable-knowledge-and-many-talents Elle, seeking advice* on when the best time to buy the navy J.Crew Majesty peacoat (that I can't stop thinking about) at a "reasonable" price. Turns out, I missed two opportunities to buy at ~$140 with a stackable code on top of a sale by mere days #storyofmylife A few days later, Elle calls to say she found one in my size at a J.Crew sample sale for $105. I can not thank her enough for always thinking of me. Much, much, much appreciated!
*Her advice: $140 is about as low as it goes for popular colors. If supplies last, the coat will eventually be marked down to the $70 range, but colors/sizes will be limited.
My favorite feature: gold buttons galore!
sunglasses: Walmart aviator (similar)
shirt: J.Crew boy shirt in Indian voile (similar)
coat: J.Crew Majesty peacoat (this season's sold here)
pants: Ann Taylor Chelsea cropped (similar)
bag: Marc Jacobs large Single - gift from aunt (sold here)
shoes: Jones New York Harlem (similar)

Awesome! I have the Factory version and love it. The gold buttons were what got me too. Hoping the other colors on both sites make it to the January sales. Looks great with the pink!
ReplyDeleteIt was your Factory version suggestion that made me take a second look at their peacoats more carefully. And I'm glad I did. The sleeve length (which held me back before) wasn't as big of a deal as I originally thought. Thank you!
DeleteThat jacket fits you perfectly! Elle is awesome for spotting that for you at a great price!
ReplyDeleteLove the navy peacoat and at a great price!! You got lucky!

ReplyDeleteThat good deal and that coat fits you well! Yeah!! My navy coat has tarnish silver buttons. Love mine but gold is also beautiful!
ReplyDeleteyou look fantastic! and how wonderful Elle kept a lookout for you!! love it! xox P
ReplyDeleteElle is such a great friend. So glad you were able to get this peocoat. It looks fantastic on you. It's a beautiful color! Navy is such a popular color it's no wonder it never goes down in price that much. I had to use the 25% off coupon which was really hard to come by (unless it's the holiday season) to get the navy schoolboy blazer. It's worth it though. You'll get so much use out of this piece!
ReplyDeleteAfter all these holiday promos, I think we're going to be quite spoiled coming the new year ;)
DeleteOh, and I love your Marc Jacobs purse!
ReplyDeleteI love this coat on you. It looks stunning with the pink pants.

i have a Guess coat kind of similar to that in black, and it's my favorite go-to coat. I like how versatile it is -- you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion!

Exactly my thoughts too! And why I prefer shorter coats to long ones because they're more easy to dress down.
DeleteNice deal! I've been debating getting that one for a while. It looks perfect on you!
ReplyDeleteAw! Elle is the best! :p
ReplyDeleteYour jacket pairs nicely with your purse, too! :)
Navy and gold are one of the best colour combos out there, IMHO!

Hi! I love the fit of this coat on you and as I have similar measurements, I was wondering what size you ended up picking? I live in Australia and always struggle with the sizing conversion/differences in sizing between brands. Thanks heaps!
ReplyDeleteHey Lee-Anne! I'm wearing sz 00R in the coat. It's pretty fitted on me, so if you want to be able to layer more underneath, I'd suggest sizing up. Hope that helps!
DeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
