Leather & Studs
Monday, November 11, 2013*** Update on 11/13/2013: If you're still interested in the Valentino Rockstud pumps even after my experience below, I've updated the top of this page with several styles and colors at a 20% discount ***
I knew when I bought my Rockstud pumps that I was mostly paying for the Valentino name, as the quality wasn't 10x nicer to justify the price tag. What I didn't expect was for one of the buckles to fall apart on me after only a handful of wears! I'm guessing I was tugging really hard on the strap because the next thing I knew, the prong fell off the bar and onto my hands. Who knew there was an inner Hulk in me (and what horrible timing for that discovery)? Luckily I managed to hook the prong back onto the bar by studying the inner-workings of the other buckles, so a trip to the cobblers was not needed. Whew!

You look great in Valentino shoes. They should make better quality shoes at that price.
ReplyDeleteCall me cynical, but I've long given up on equating quality with price. With everything mass produced now, I think those days are over. It's all about supply vs. demand, right? If people are willing to fork out $$$ for these shoes, then I certainly don't blame the supplier for marking up the price. Heck, if I was in business, I'd do the same!
Deletethey are great shoes but thats so disappointing in the quality!

Gorgeous! Love this look!

That's ridiculous that they'd break so soon after you got them!
ReplyDeleteI hope my pair was that one bad apple that barely passed quality control because I'd hate for others to experience the same problem!
DeleteOh dear! I'd take the shoes back to the store and get another pair!

Do you really think they'd let me exchange for another pair? I bought it from Neiman Marcus and don't have much experience with their customer service. I think it's more likely they'll have the on-site cobbler fix the shoe over giving me a new pair?
DeleteGood thing you were able to fix it, I would be utterly upset if I paid for something that expensive and the quality didn't live up to its price/name. And I would've probably wrote them a looong letter...haha

Believe me, I was super pissed at first. Then... well, I got over it, haha. I'll hold off on the letter (for now), but won't hesitate if (god forbid) another buckle breaks.
DeleteOmg, I can't believe the prong fell off! I would've definitely expected higher quality given the price. Good thing you were able to fix it!
ReplyDeletecute & little
I'd definitely take it back to the store, NM has really great customer service and for shoes at that price point they should definitely replace!
ReplyDeleteThank you, those are the words I needed to hear. Sometimes I'm just so lazy and hate even the slightest confrontations that I'll just put up with things... especially since I "fixed" the buckle. I wonder if I should take it apart to show NM? Will definitely report back!
DeleteWhat! I would be so mad if that happened to a pair of shoes so expensive :( Glad you were able to fix them yourself though!
ReplyDeleteI WAS pissed! But then I started blaming myself... if only I hadn't tugged so hard, etc etc. :(
DeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
