Pretty in Pleats
Friday, April 26, 2013Sale alert at Ann Taylor: Use code CITYCHIC for 40% off your entire purchase. I haven't bought anything from them recently, so I don't have any new recommendations. Old favorites that are brought back this season include:
- Perfect pumps in leather or patent leather are $76.80 with code (see review / outfits: here, here, here)
- Cotton wrap cardigan is $35.99 with code (I'm wearing sz XXS / outfits: here, here, here)
(Updated on 4/27): LOFT is also running 40% off everything with code NOW40.
- Flounce hem lace dress - $56.93 with code - final sale (I'm wearing size 0 - sized up for hips / outfit here)
- Vaughn t-strap sandals - $17.70 with code (I'm wearing size 6 - TTS / outfits: here, here, here)
- Pamela scalloped Mary Jane pumps - $53.70 with code (I'm wearing size 6 - review here / outfit here)
- Denim leggings - $35.99 with code (I'm wearing size 24R - TTS / outfits: here, here, here)
I've placed an order to try the modern skinny ankle jeans with 29" inseam (the search for white skinny jeans continues) and cotton shorts with 4" inseam in white.
The first time I wore this pleated skirt, I went for a dressier look. This time around, I chose a decidedly more casual path in flats and a sweater messily-tucked (but intentionally done). Next up: pairing the skirt with feminine blouses.
Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

ReplyDeleteHi Cee, this is my first time to leave a comment and a technical question. I absolutely love your style and have been inspired since earlier this year. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHow do you post multiple pictures from Flickr to Blogspot? I could only share one Flickr photo per blog post. Can you help? Thanks in advance!
Hey wangzi! Thank you so much for your kind words <3
DeleteI first go to my Flickr account, then go to the page with the Flickr image that you want to add. You should see "Actions" and "Share" near the top of the taskbar. Click "Share", under "Grab the HTML/BBCode" choose the size of the image you want, make sure "HTML" is selected, then copy the chunk of code. That's all from your Flickr account. Then go over to Blogger and start composing a new post. Select the "HTML" tab instead of "Compose", then paste the chunk of code from Flickr that you had copied earlier. Then if you switch over to the "Compose" tab, you should be able to see your Flickr photo.
I hope that helps! Let me know if you have other questions.
Thank you so much! Yes, it works :)
DeleteMaybe it's the fabric, the skirt seems a bit stiff with the sharp pleats. Teamed with the pattern of the skirt, this gives a bit of a newspaper feel. I wonder if a softer fabric might work a bit better. Kudos for the creativity though.
ReplyDeleteYep, the skirt is canvas-like in texture, so on the stiff side. So combine the material with the print, I can see why it'd remind you of newspapers. I immediately thought of a stack of old letters, yellow-ish and crinkly myself, haha. I have to give SewPetiteGal all the credit for the DIY though!
DeleteLovely outfit! Your skirt is very sweet and the sweater fits you so well!

ReplyDeletevery nice - the colours are beautifully mixed and you look adorable! love this!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to your review on the pants - I have one pair from Ann Taylor that I love and am always looking for others. Can I just say that I love your denim pair from your last post - they are the perfect mix of skinny + boyfriend jean, super flattering!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I'll do a review on the jeans yet, but will let you know my thoughts! The pair from my last post also happens to be the LOFT modern skinny jeans, same as the white jeans I bought, so fingers crossed that the new pair will work out too!
DeleteI think this skirt makes good casual piece.. the print makes it playful, perfect with that sweater top. I especially love that Camellia WOC, the color is stunning!
