Ties, the Bow Kind

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

I picked up this bow tie over Labor Day weekend, thinking it'd be a fun challenge to work into my wardrobe. I love Blair and Khatu's outfits with a bow tie, but the queen title goes to Diane Kruger. She pulls off all these different looks so well, with my favorite* being the one below.

I was "inspired" heavily by her outfit to recreate a more feminized version of my own. Besides this look, I'm thinking of going the traditional route of bow tie over a collared shirt next. Or perhaps even girlier with a bow tie in my hair. If you have any styling ideas, please do share!

Are you a fan of bow ties?

  2. I love the placement of the bow tie! I never would have thought to do that either, but I think it gives the overall outfit a more feminine vibe which is way better than a hipster or school girl one. ;)

  6. So cute! I give you credit, since I have not as of yet grown brave enough to sport a bow-tie...shameful! Also...that skirt is Forever 21? Looks way more expensive from where I'm sitting. :)

  10. Super cute tie - I love this look on you! I would have never thought of that placement. Your photos look so magazine / pictorial-esque! I'm also fascinated with the bow tie but am still trying to find one of the "fluffy" kinds with the tails :)
