Not Too Cool For School
Tuesday, February 19, 2013I have a soft spot for navy and orange because they're my alma mater's colors. There hasn't been much to cheer about recently, until I realized we have a shot at making the annual basketball tournament! Yes, a shot (not even a guarantee) is reason enough to show some school pride. A win tonight against #2 Miami would go a long way to beefing up the resume. Let's go 'Hoos!
Also see Wendy in a navy lace top with orange.

Didn't know you were an UVA alumna! We're hoping to relocate to NOVA in a few years.
ReplyDeleteReally?! We've got to hang out then :) I'm fairly knowledgeable about the area, so let me know if you have any questions. Hopefully you guys have lived in fairly high cost-of-living and/or traffic congested places before, otherwise it would take getting used to.
DeleteGreat outfit! Love the orange necklace with your navy lace blouse and coat. This photo is gorgeous, too--such pretty light!
ReplyDeleteTam, your photos always have that nice soft glow. So when I went through this batch of photos, I can't believe I got lucky and immediately thought of you :)
DeleteOh! I've been skulking around your blog for a while without posting... But I saw this post and couldn't stop myself. Didn't realize you're also a UVA alum! I graduated 09 SEAS :) Wonder if we possibly ran into one another during our time there??
ReplyDeleteLove the lace for you :) And I also have a super soft spot for orange+navy... I used to hate it but ever since graduating, I find myself gravitating towards this combo...
I'm an e-schooler too, but class of 05, so we just missed each other! Have you been back to C-ville recently? The last time I was back (geez, must've been a couple years now), SO MUCH has changed. I almost didn't recognize the place. Thanks for delurking, mingming!
DeleteSo close though! You actually probably ran into my fiancee! He was also in e-school but graduated '04. Such a small world. I think one of the last things I expected was to find out one of the fashion bloggers I stalked in my reader 1. Went to the same school as me 2. Was also in the engineering school 3. On top of all that lived in the exact same area
DeleteI haven't been back since 2010 actually. My friend's from Charlottesville (her family actually owns Panda Garden and another one of the Chinese restaurants down there) and says she was giving some relatives a tour and didn't even recognize it herself. They were doing so much construction when I was leaving that I can only imagine the changes. Seems like so long ago now!
I will try to lurk less and comment more :) You really have a great blog and a great sense of style!
Mingming, please don't feel like you must comment, only if you want to :)
DeleteSuch a small world indeed, though I wouldn't count on it. I barely knew a handful of people in my class, let alone others! A good friend of mine now was e-school 06 but for some reason I never knew her when we were at school. That's 3 years of probably seeing each other all the time without knowing o.O
Panda Garden is MY FAVORITE Chinese restaurant in C-ville! I'm not even kidding. Their shrimp with lobster sauce and egg drop soup are 10x better than any other I've tried (and believe me, I've tried lots). I seriously miss their food. That and Bodo's bagels are two places I always make a point to stop at when I visit. All this food talk is making me hungry... I really need to plan a trip back soon!
i always wished my school had some sort of div 1 sports team.. hah. navy and orange looks fantastic together!
ReplyDeleteLaura, I wonder if you'd say the same if your school's D1 teams (in sports that people care about) aren't very good? Sometimes it doesn't even feel like we're in D1, haha.
Deletelove this outfit - so pretty and classy. the lighting is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletei'm heading back to DC in april. i hope it stays warmer than here!! ;)
xox P
DC in April should be gorgeous, but it's the middle of allergy season! I hope you'll have a great time despite all the pollen, P.
DeleteI really love this look. Very chic. I love the added accessories as well!
ReplyDeletexoo,

This is such a chic navy look - love the textures!
ReplyDeleteThat necklace and lace top are so beautifully paired! Love your outfit. So chic but a bit fun!
ReplyDeleteAre you still doing self-pics with a tripod? Your pics are so pretty! I've been so lazy about taking pictures with anything other than my phone. I love the combo today and the quilted MJ bag - is it a heavier bag or pretty lightweight?
ReplyDeleteI sure am! I got super lucky with the lighting in this photo, but couldn't get the focus just right... notice how my upper body is sort of blurry? I gave up when the cold was too much to bear :)
DeleteThe body of the MJ bag is light-weight; it's the chains that are heavy. Most of the time the chains are resting on your shoulders so it's not a big deal. I do like how this bag is 2x roomier than my Chanel flap.
I love wearing navy and that lace T is a great piece.
ReplyDeleteloving the navy and orange!
ReplyDeletei miss the east coast! i'm more of the terps kinda gal =)
Not gonna lie, I grew up a Terps fan (cuz of my dad) but now my loyalty's across the river ;)
DeleteThanks for following me cee! I'm already following u! ❤
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm only a terms fan Bc I grew up in md. :)
I'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
