My office's holiday potluck party was today and there was a host of activities -- from ugly Christmas sweaters to cubicle decorations to spreading positivity through Post-it notes. My excuse for being the Grinch? I don't own any ugly sweaters... anymore? But I added my own twist with a fun (and stylish) winter accessory, a fur stole with a ribbon tie. I remember falling in love with this piece last year and still love it just as much to this day. J.Crew, please bring it back!

Today's outfit consists of taking a typical classic winter look (wool coat + suede boots) and adding a fun twist with accessories. Who says winter has to be dreary and boring?

Please excuse the quality of today's photos. I thought I had taken decent pics, but the dark colors all sort of blended together when viewed on my monitor. I ended up brightening the photos a lot to differentiate the colors... and even then I'm not sure they're coming across clearly. I'm wearing a gray wool coat, dark purple long-sleeve tee with a black vest, gray pants, purple gloves, black purse, and rose gold metallic wedges.

Looking through today's photos, I felt my choice of blue suede shoes looked the best while I was in the office -- sans coat and gloves. The dark burgundy (purple-brown?) gloves look great with the gray-coat-with-a-hint-of-lilac, but not so much with the blue shoes together. Hmm... perhaps a brighter colored pair of gloves would work better? Or a more muted pair of shoes?

Just a simple, no fuss outfit to start off the new work week. Have a good one!

A quick post this mid-week with an outfit that's a reflection of the current state of my mind. Between catching up with work on a shortened week (snow. again.) and containing my excitement for the college basketball tournament that starts tomorrow (don't know why I torture myself with reading/watching everything I can find because all the experts have my team going out early), getting dressed in the mornings is the last thing on my mind. So, just making it easier on myself by sticking to a tried-and-true formula of neutrals + trousers with the same shoes + coat with the same sweater.
