In a New York Minute
Tuesday, June 18, 2013DH and I went up to NYC a couple weeks ago to attend his cousin's wedding. Rather than taking our time to enjoy the city for a weekend, we crammed our stay into the shortest amount of time permitted. It was a whirlwind of eating, wedding festivities, and more eating. I stayed awake by guzzling bubble tea whenever I got the chance. Our stay was fun, but exhausting... and I probably wouldn't do it again (no longer as young as I used to be).
I was at my most efficient when it came to packing for this trip. Pats self on back. I managed to fit all the essentials into a regular-sized bag, which allowed me to walk around the city hands-free and with a lighter load on my shoulders. I was only able to do this because I decided to save packing space by wearing my dress for the entire duration of the trip. I figured I'd just switched up the accessories between playing tourist and attending a wedding. All those PFC challenges that called for making do with clothes off your back sure came in handy.
I didn't have good photos from the trip, so I re-shot my daytime outfit [below] when we came home. For the actual wedding, I went for simplicity with just the dress, knot cuff, gold strappy sandals, and a gold/stone clutch.
lips: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in coral crush (sold here)
scarf: gift from friend (similar)
dress: By Malene Birger Callinga (similar)
ring: H&M (similar)
bracelet: Madewell knot cuff (similar)
bag: H&M (similar)
shoes: Mossimo Desta ballet flats (similar)

That's impressive...a whole trip in one bag. I just came from a weekend trip for which I packed three bags (serial overpacker here).
ReplyDeleteI also can't get enough of this dress, such an amazing piece!
Haha, don't feel bad. We took the bus up, so that was even more reason to limit my belongings. If we drove, I would have no problem over-packing as well.
DeleteYou know my closet is always open to ya :)
love your dress! i always try to pack the smallest bag possible.
ReplyDelete..I always admire people who pack things in smallest package possible, that is awesome..i like the dress it is beautiful
ReplyDeleteNice to see the dress again! I bet you were so excited to wear it! Love that you chose non-competing pieces to wear for the wedding look.

ReplyDeleteWhen my fiance & I went to NY for the weekend for a family event, we packed our essentials including his laptop into his backpack and that was it! Gotta love traveling light. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the intricate details of your dress, btw. :)
I bow down to you, W! DH carried a backpack for his belongings and there was barely any more room once he was ready to go, let alone for my things. Plus you guys went for a whole weekend. Impressive.
DeleteThe beautiful embellishment of the dress really pop with the scarf. And yay for packing light! :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh that's amazing, one dress the whole trip! And I thought my recent trip to Montreal was good...a maxi skirt and top and a maxi dress. You beat me! :P
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
