New 'Do
Tuesday, September 17, 2013I got a haircut over the weekend. This is news because my hair hasn't been this short since... I was a toddler? I hadn't considered anything besides my usual trim of ~3" until my stylist asked if I want my hair just long enough so I can tie it back. Nahh, let's go shorter this time, I spontaneously decided. I couldn't bring myself to get bangs, so this is the next best drastic change.
I think I look more mature post-haircut because I've always (unreasonably) associated short hair with adults. More older people have short hair compared to younger people, therefore I must look older now. You know, correlation equals causation and all that. Wrong. DH jokingly said, "Will you go to prom with me?" upon seeing my new haircut. My stylist remarked that I looked younger than before. Older, younger... neither is a bad thing to embrace. I'm just happy to cut down the amount of time it takes to wash, blow dry, and straighten my hair.

I love your new 'do! I wasn't brave enough to go that short last year, I did a long bob and then realized my crazy hair goes crazier when it's short!
ReplyDeleteI kind of mentally equate shorter hair with being older too - maybe that's why I'm trying to milk having longer hair for as long as I can, haha.
So funny you should say your hair becomes even crazier when it's short. I had wondered if the same thing would happen to me, but my stylist said my hair actually seems straighter after the cut o.O You'd think the heavy weight keeps the hair from being too crazy... of course I'm the werido that doesn't conform, haha.
DeleteIt looks so cute on you!
ReplyDeleteGutsy move! Making drastic changes to hair is fun. :) Looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteWow! I can't believe you haven't had short hair since a toddler! You look cute with this hairdo!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing long hair was my mom's way of trying to remind me that I'm a girl. Because I sure didn't act like one when I was younger, lol.
DeleteYou look great with your new haircut!! Well done on having the courage to take the cut :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I didn't have time to second guess myself. The courage was fleeting ;)
DeleteI love new drastic changes, especially when it comes to hair. Makes you look like a whole new person, I had my hair chopped off (about a foot) this spring. Never felt better, but the only bad thing is the limitation when it comes to styling your hair. Btw, great top!
ReplyDeleteWow, a foot! I probably had 5-6" cut off, so the change wasn't too drastic physically, but I sure felt like I jumped over a huge mental hurdle.
DeleteI'd really like to curl my short hair into soft waves, but I'm horrible with a curling iron. So I've been sticking with straight hair and clipping it back on some days and just leaving it as is on others.
I like your new hair do! Once in a while, I cut my hair short to change up the look :)
ReplyDeleteI love your new cut - it looks great! I've been itching to take the plunge and get more that my typical 1/2" trim but I usually get to the salon and chicken out. You have inspired me! :) -Pam
ReplyDeleteMy secret? Spur of the moment decisions so you have no time to second guess yourself. There may be room for regrets... but hair grows back, right? :)
DeleteLooks great, cee! :)
ReplyDeletegorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the new hairdo! And I'm glad we all get to ooh and ah over it very soon! :)
ReplyDeleteAhh, don't get your hopes up! I'm having a hard time replicating the blowout by my stylist, haha.
DeleteI'd love to hear from you. Constructive criticisms welcome!
